Default Miss Temptation Contest Controversy

Well I should probably stay out of this but...I'm beginning to wonder about this Miss Temptation Contest every month. It seems too many of these contests end up with controversial endings with accusations being tossed around. What starts out as good clean fun tends to get tainted by the end of the competition. Possibly the contest is too long. I'm not just talking about this month but other months have had problems also. Even the big one for Miss T 2010 was a fiasco according to many that were there in January. Maybe management likes this because it attracts attention. I don't know, but I hate to see the TTR family divided over things like this. I've met a lot of great people @ the resort. I hope these contests don't hinder friendships that have been made.

I totally agree with you. This competition is supposed to be fun. If you noticed on most of my posts on Cancun care I invite people to go to the website and see if I deserve their vote. Not once did I ever say anything bad about the other two girls.

We all have one thing in common, we love Cancun and we love TTR...why can't we just focus on what makes us join on here instead of the rest?

Well, I tried to vote for one of the girls that is in the July running. it seems virtually impossible, I got setup confirmed the email and got the code. I voted day 1, but when day 2 came around I couldn't vote with the same code. I like the girl but I seriously wouldn't have the time to, login, setup, get code and vote. Now for those that have the hundreds of vote, great job!

You guys have NO idea...and Mindi was a finalist...Im not gonna get into it, but there are MANY people you can talk to that were a part of it, AND, people that were there that were in total disbelief.

I only had time to read some of the posts as I am at work and should be working; however, I do want to sincerely apologize for what you were submitted to. Some people haven't been very kind to me and I haven't even won, we're still in the voting phase. I know how hurtful it can be. I am a very sensitive person and I took things personally. Especially since I haven't said anything about my competitor and I never will.

We had a great time. Mindi was probably one of the 2 or 3 crowd faves to win the whole thing, but you could tell by things that were said and done, the owners had a predetermined winner

Dont take it personally...

We met some of the NICEST people during that week. It was really only one girl that segregated herself from the group in EVERY WAY. Everyone else got along REALLY well and had a blast. She ended up winning...go figure...

Thank Bill and Mindi, I'm trying not to take it personally. And I have been to TTR twice now and the people are all so kind and the resort is awesome. I really find it a pity that some people have to take it to that level. I'm seriously hurt by it all. If you look at the thread rock the vote, you will see attacks that I've had. I love Cancune care and have met so many great people on here, but I am about to cancel my membership for lack of respect.

I'm glad that you guys enjoyed your trip there as well. I definitely plan on going back to the resort, but I will definitely never take part in that competition again.
Hugs!!

Attacks? I dont see any attacks. I think you need a thicker skin unless of course you think that convincing people you've been attacked might make them more likely to vote for you.

Personally, I'm sick of this whole competition dominating the forum every couple of months.

It doesn't take a genius to spot that the voting is kept artificially close between the top two so that the contestants work even harder to get new votes and create more free publicity. It's all in vain though - at the end of voting they'll remove 'artificial votes' and whoever they want to win, wins.

The only thing I hate about the contest is the forum advertisements... Asking for votes in a beauty/personality/best-looking-body contest ruins the fun if you ask me...

Anyways, no offence to any of the contestants... You're all gorgeous. Just felt like seeing what other people thought I guess!

Hmmmm, an inside job...did not think about it enough to consider it an inside job...

I was leaning towards ppl creating countless email adressess and casting votes from the same IP....

That would explain how the hell those numbers climbed up sooo high and why it seems to be a head to head....

Thick skin or not, supporting one over the other or not....its feeling like high school.

The resort will decide who wins period...given at how the FB page is managed and the possibility of inflation of votes internally....

Here is a little food for thought....if you were the resort, a habitual manipulator of publicity data....when chosing the winner, would you chose a regular customer whose traveling friends most likely have already heard of the resort and most likely visited already or would you chose a new traveler that can potentially spread the word to other potentially new travelers hence increase the likelyhood of generating new paying customers....

If my goal was publicity and generating new business, I would have to chose the person that can potentially help me accomplish that.

OMG, maybe Laura will win......

Lighten upppppppppp people

Hi, I'm Laura, this month's major loser, and I just wanted to put my two cents in.

I was out of town the day the competition went live. When I got back, Alisa already had a big lead and Cancuncare's support. What I liked best about this forum is how helpful, supportive, and fun the people here--and who go to TTR are. So, I chose at that time to stay off the board because
a) Alisa has been to TTR more than I have and thus, I think, deserves it more
b) I didn't want to be in the center of any nastiness or hard feelings
c) it would be next to impossible for me to get off work in January anyway

But here's the thing--doing the contest was a blast, and the prizes were awesome. But the online competition leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. Seeing some of the past months, I had a feeling it was rigged. But knowing how many of my friends and family can't get a code, and seeing this month's votes in the 800s when past months' winners had like 300 votes... I dunno, kinda fishy.

And here's one thing I think the resort's PR staff should consider: when we started looking at resorts, I at first wouldn't even consider TTR because I was horrified by the idea of being surrounded by gorgeous, half-naked nymphettes. But when I found this website and all the people with the same body image concerns who were kind and accepting, that changed my attitude. Maybe promoting the image that everyone who goes to TTR is a gorgeous supermodel is going to drive away some potential customers.

Anyway, it is hard not to let it bring down my ego, so I appreciate you letting me get it off my chest.

Laura,

You are in no way the big loser this month... probably you're the winner cause you stayed out of the fray.

I'm just really glad they don't do this with Mr Temptation!

Currently it is 899 votes to 898 votes. It's too bad TTR feels the need to rig the appearance of the vote just to keep the promotion going strong for the entire duration of the competition. It would be interesting to see what the ''real'' score was at this point.

I think it time you stopped people canvassing for votes on here !
If you want to view and vote do it and have a 'sticky' directing people there !
I get fed up of people doorstepping me at election time and it goes on to much on the forum. Will also stop nastiness !

One good thing is all the hits the site takes and that helps drive up the site's ranking, and thereby generating more new viewers who hit the ad links and generate more income for Steve.

So it's not all bad.

I'm sad to say that i think you are right . We have witness the program '' mathematics '' do its work all day next month or what ever in the last days observe a similarity between vote counts and time between votes. But it was a blast ...very exiting !!!

People take this contest way too seriously.Yes,the winner gets a free trip back.Who wouldn't want that? But really,if that's the most important thing in your life..............As for the catty criticism that goes on,remember, those who do so do it so they can feel better about themselves.Ladies,if you enter have fun with it.It's just a meaningless, fun activity at TTR.

The idea of the contest was fun, the execution leaves a lot to be desired. Personally I think they should just do away with it and instead give the weekly winner a room upgrade for either the rest of their current stay or a future stay or the hotel yacht for an afternoon.

Getting people to engage in what often turns out to be a bitter competition for some just doesn't seem worth it im my humble opinion.

yes i agree ! Room upgrade and such for a future stay is more than enough if you ask me but in the end its the marketing that really matters. Their are always two sides to a medal ! Someone mentioned a sticky for the votes in here i think its a great idea alot less ''pollution'' and for those into it allot better i think
