Default Coco Bongo - with the resort or without?

Does anyone know what night the resort goes to Coco Bongos and is it better to go with the resort or through your travel agent rep? Oh and how much it costs. We've always talked about going but have never gone but this time we think we are going to do it...

We went with the resort and did the $55 package. We got transportation to the club on a nice bus, and a reserved section on the bottom floor. It is all inclusive with drinks, but just like TTR it is the cheap and limited selection for that price.

If we could do it again, we would have paid $100 each for the VIP section that had premium liquor and the best view of the shows.

It is a ton of fun and I totally recommend going - I just think it is well worth the extra $45 to be in the VIP section. We didn't know that until we saw what it was while there, but too late to do anything about it then.

Take a nap later in the afternoon because you don't leave until nearly 11pm and the shows go all night. We held out until about 3am, just got too tired to stay longer

Have fun!!

I am going to make this a separate post, but I uploaded this video to you tube of one of the shows from Coco Bongo - so much fun!

we have went with a bar hopping tour and with ttr....the bar hopping tour gave us much better seats and much better all inclusive service while in the club....but you have to find your own way to and from the club....the only thing the resort had on the tour was they provided a bus there

you can also bargain with the resort on ticket prices

After missing out the past couple of years for one reason or another we went by ourselves. Rode the city bus to and from. The down side was the long line waiting to get in. We bought our tickets at the resort from the travel agency by the sports bar. Had a blast. We were at the back standing and one of the staff told us to follow him; he walked us right up to a table up front. A few dollars in tips and he took great care of us all night. Our glasses were never empty.
Highly recommended. We didn't get back to the resort until 4:00 am.

The section that is reserved for TTR guests is in the back. It's extremely crowded and getting a drink was pretty much nearly impossible. One of our friends ended up complaining to CoCo Bongo management and we were taken to the VIP on top with great views, private restrooms, and amazing service. Turns out that this is the $100 per person VIP section. Well worth to pay the extra $45 dollars for this option.

It depends on the time of year where you get taken with TTR during high season like spring break you don't get good seats. You're up top near the back. This time of year you are more likely to be down by the bars which I prefer. It's all fun though!

Great point! We were there on Mexican Independence Day and the place was extremely crowded. As a matter of fact, one of the busiest nights they've ever had according to our VIP host.

I agree, we would totally do the $100 ticket if we ever go again!! We sat down by the bar at the front and were right in the middle of everything, but you can see more on the upper stage if you are in the VIP, and the drinks are better!

Default Bought from vendors

We stayed at Dreams this past summer which is in walking distance of Coco Bongo. We bought tickets from Coco Bongo vendor outside for $45 from their booth (we paid w/ a credit card because we ran out of cash by then - diff story but when we returned to the US we had over $1000 charged on our card - so just thought I'd share to beware if you buy from Coco Bongo reps directly or using a card in Mexico overall). But our $45 tickets gave us a crappy standing spot. The place was crowded - we got one drink - very bad drink - I had to leave early because I was ready to puked. But for the 1 hour we were there.... Coco Bongo did not impress me at all. This is not a club to dance in - you just watch shows standing next to people shoulder to shoulder. Really wish we would have went to Mandala or Bull Dog to dance instead - they looked more fun! Just wanted to share my experience. I would not pay $100 for Coco Bongo at all!!

Since you never have been to Coco Bongo before, I would suggest going with the group from Temptation, I am fairly certain they go on Monday nights.

We went with the resort, had VIP seating upstairs, and had a phenomenal time!!! Took the bus back to TTR about 3:30am without any problems.

We went twice with the resort and you get crammed in at the back in a rubbish spot, the 2nd time we went we just headed into the middle and the girls were all up on the central bar dancing.

BUT BEWARE, it's very crowded and when going to the restroom I got pinned between the crowd and a wall for all of 10 seconds, I suddenly got a feeling something wasn't right and low & behold, I looked down and my pocket was turned inside out!
I'd been pickpocketed of about 600 pesos (so no money for our taxi home) but more importantly they also got the roomkey for TTR!

Spoilt an otherwise amazing night.

Yes, pickpockets run rampant at Coco Bongo. Make sure you don't have anything in your back pockets.

Speaking of pockets. I have a funny if somewhat inappropriate story to share. I was there in September with the hotel group and it was awesome. Drinks were flowing. Couple next to me and the woman was talking to our host who came on the bus with us. After about an hour of shots she was hammered and she started giving the host some hand relief - can't remember his name. Her hubby had no problem and this prompted the waiters to come back faster and faster to check it out.

been many times over the last several years - would recommend going with the resort if you have never been - people you know and all that kinda stuff

plus if you are not happy with where they put you - simply grab another couple willing to fork over an extra 25 bucks and then leave the shitty spot they put you in and find a good waiter and tell them you want them to hook you up with a prime spot

done this method a couple of times and one time they basically put us on the stage

the show is amazing and worth whatever you have to pay

the best

You can buy the VIP ticket from another guy at the pool on Monday where the regular tickets are sold, they have a booth by the pool all day on Monday. I don't know if you can buy the $100 ticket right before the bus leaves, but I know you can get the regular ticket that way. VIP is the way to go!

if i'm asked to go i end up in v.i.p. because of a promo. but i usually end up on the bar.but you need to tip the bartender and server and they will take care of you all night.this is my favorite bar.i might go with the resort, but will make my way to the v.i.p. it's amazing what you can do when you dress in a white tuxedo and fedora to match
