trip report....Desire Week Oct/Nov 2011

Well, another Oct./Nov. Desire week is in the books and what a week it was.
The consensus we had and that we got from most others is that it was simply the best ever.
The weather gods smiled on us with awesome conditions. We had one afternoon of party cloudy; the rest was brilliant sunshine with 90* temps. Some of those deluged in Cancun even came over to escape the hurricane there.
We typically use ratings with our trip reports....1-10
Resort grounds (10) beautiful as always.
Staff (10) excellent, involved, hard working.
We tip them well and it greatly enhances our trips. Best staff in the world in our humble opinion.
Food (8.5)...was good, not excellent. Hard to complain with an all-inclusive so reasonable as Desire.
Suki seemed to be the best bet as usual. We did the hibachi a couple of nights and Leonardo was great. No Desire roll.
We did notice that certain things were missing from other Desire weeks. No Seafood buffet, no beach party. Seemed like some cost cutting going on maybe.
The international buffet grill was very good.
Breakfast was outstanding. The fresh OJ and green juice are a real treat.
The lunch buffet was excellent as well. The burrito stand is a nice touch in there.
The flank steaks and pescado were excellent--we lust those flank steaks!
Drinks/bars/bartenders (9.5) very good! Unlike Temptations weeks, Desire booze is very good. Late night pizza and sandwiches are the best at the Melange.
Room (10) excellent, clean, quiet. Caveat...close friends who attended for the week had a room that smelled horribly mildewed due to a badly leaking a/c. We were gagging when we went to their room one night. Ick!
Pool (9.5) nice, plenty of chairs and beds. They need more umbrellas for us cave dwellers.
Jacuzzi (9) nice, but we had to pester Martin to get the staff to get the torches lit most nights. We're thinking that the resort is trying to skimp by without using them. Like most everybody, we love the fire pits up at the jacuzzi!
Disco (9.5) The disco really rocked this week!
Many weeks we've attended the DJ was pretty bad (endless Cyndi Lauper "Girls just wanna have fun" lameness) but not this time! He played great music and the disco was packed with a great, sexy vibe. The floor was packed nightly.
The bartenders there were en-fuego.
Activities (9.5) The Melange was great every night and it seemed most everyone was in sexy costume. It was a testament to the fantastic sexy crowd! Desire appears to have perfected the formats. Cesar (and co.) is excellent and a huge asset to the resort.
Spa (9) Massages were excellent.
Workout room gets a (4). We use it, but it is no Bally's. Most don't use it, so...no biggie. We like to hit the gym to shake off too much tequila from the night before. Although they really need a/c in there.
The showers in the spa are so nice to use during the day.
Crowd (10++) Couldn't have been better.
So overall, excellent time. The vibe with the crowd was pretty much amazing. No drama, no crassness, zero complaints; just great sexy fun.
Lifestylers, non-lifestylers, nudists....all having the time of their lives.

We'll be at May Desire 2012 and can't wait!

Nice report, we also think that this was the best Desire Week, probably because of the spirit of Halloween. The highlights for us were the disco and the theme nights, just so much fun. We are looking forward to the May Desire Week.

Great TR! It was fantastic meeting everyone. This was our first Desire Week so we didn't have anything to compare it to, but it definitely left us wanting to come back again! We could see a big difference in the energy between Temptation and when it changed over to Desire, but I'm sure part of that had to do with occupancy levels and everyone there ready to party and just have a great time! We had one of the best vacations ever, in large part to meeting some really FANTASTIC new friends from all over! We loved Cabo and will definitely be back! (Of course winning the pirate costume contest and free trip definitely helps in that department...)

Fabulous pirates! Extra points for you two CNL for hanging tough with the heat.
Classic costumes all week....and seeing Jabba the Hutt inchworming down that hallway with Princess Leia on Halloween. Classic!
Almost fell off the lawn chair...
Jabba can cut a rug too, quite a dancer for an oversized worm, um, thing.

There really were some AMAZING costumes. I was impressed with how many people participated in the theme nights. We actually had vampire costumes too but I wasn't feeling well that first night so they stayed in the closet.

I didn't get to see Jabba dancing in his costume...I think I would have paid good money to see that....Just watching him walk was amusing....You guys were awesome! But I gotta say....I've always wanted to be a Vegas showgirl!!!!

F&R, great trip report. I hate being back home. I agree with your assessment of how wonderful a week it was. It was a great vibe. The staff really went out of their way to make us feel special (Angie is a cutie). Games were also a lot of fun especially when you have a girl hanging on you...thanks R . Disco was a blast, i surely made that dance floor look ugly but who cares. Definitely going back in October and doubt we will pass up May. Our worry is that all other vacations will not match up.

My husband and I went to Desire several times before the change to Temptation. We are not in the lifestyle but are not prudes and LOVE to be naked! This is our favorite resort and we are thinking about coming for the Desire week in May.

Way back when the conversion was taking place, we were told they had to do it because of the high-rise hotel being built next door. So, here's my question......IF that was the reason, what do they do about that high-rise during Desire week?

Also, ONE of our favorite parts of the day was going up to the hot tub after the disco. Is the tub open late when the resort is Desire?

The Barcelo is really a non-issue for most people, I have not talked to anyone that was bothered by the resort. They do not do anything specific for the Desire Week but we rarely see any guests from the Barcelo looking at all the fun that they are missing during the Desire Week.

The jacuzzi is open after the disco, not sure how late. If you haven't been there since the change, the resort built a wood structure at the jacuzzi that blocks the view from anyone looking at the resort from the Barcelo.

good questions...
The neighboring hotel was just one reason they changed to TTR. They constructed a large bamboo-style overhang at the jacuzzi for privacy. It looks nice and works perfectly for what it was intended for.
The pool can still be seen by a section of the Barcello, but it doesn't seem to be an issue. It gives those folks a reason to wish they were at Desire.
The jacuzzi stayed open very late during Desire weeks. We left there at 3:30-4:00 a.m. a couple of nights and there were still people there relaxing. The bar there did close around 2:00 most nights. The Melange is open until 6:00 a.m.

Thanks for the answers everyone! I just booked us for all nights of the May 2012 Desire Week. Hopefully, there are no snags with hubby's vacation days.

Could we have the dates of the Desire Week, please. And could someone confirm that it is a nude week or clothing optional. Neither both us as we are nudist and looking for a nude week without going to Desires. Thanks all. Some great reports that may convince us to change from TTR Cancun. Kev and Di: The Aussies

The week I know of is May 2-9, 2012. I think you would consider it clothing optional. Nudity allowed (these weeks only) but not required. I believe clothing in required in the restaurants and public areas. I have not been during a "Desire Week" but went several times before the change to Temptation.

I have seen somewhere on the forum that on Friday nights outsiders are allowed in for the party at the hot tub. I assume outsiders are NOT allowed when the resort is doing a Desire Week. Is that assumption correct?

When we were at the Desire week last May 2011, it seemed like they allowed outsiders in to the jacuzzi area on the weekend. However, in the Oct/Nov trip, the jacuzzi club 360 or whatever it is called was not open during the Desire week.

Aussies- we would love to see you there- my husband loves that Aussie accent! We have been to two Desire weeks and have booked for May already.

Apparently Desire Weeks will no longer be needed. Temptation Resorts made the following post on Facebook today:

Original Resorts will turn its adults only Temptation Resort Spa Los Cabos into its clothing optional Desire Resort & Spa Los
Cabos, and more guests will have the opportunity to enjoy the unique concept of Desire.

There was an effective date of May 1, 2012
