Los Cabos rebranded as Desire clothing optional

So, Los Cabos is going back to clothing optional and the Desire brand rather than Temptation.

Chinos mentioned it yesterday and today the following was posted on the TTR facebook page:

We are pleased to announce that in response to the demand of our clothing optional Desire Resort & Spa Riviera Maya, the group will be opening a second clothing optional hotel- the Desire Resort & Spa Los Cabos- on May 1st, 2012.

That is certainly good news for those of us that love the Desire format in Cabo. Can't wait for a May visit.

I guess I won't be seeing the place then since I'm single but based on what I have heard for the partygoers it won't be a big loss. Sounds like they would do better nearer to a larger population and club scene for a temptation type place. Maybe in Los Cabos or Puerta Vallarta?

Would definetley be interesting to see if something like this happens down the road. Was starting to think about a second trip to Temptation Cabo again though, guess I'll have to "settle" for Temptation Cancun for now.

New website is up received via email, Desire Resort & Spa Los Cabos. Looks like they will be offering 25% off from May 1 -December 23 2012.Starting from 135 per person.

Hhhmm, not sure. The vibe during the last couple of temptation desire takeovers was awesome. The place was full and the staff went all out for that week. I am not sure they could keep that up all year. I am also concerned that the price will go up. So I was good with 3 times a year with many of the same friendly guests. Again i am worried that the attendance will be lower and we will not run into our yearly friends.

We booked the may2-8 2012 dates already so we will stick with that. Hopefully all recent cabo desire guests will have same idea. I am sure the staff will be pumped and ready for their first week of transition.

Just checked the before and after prices for 3rd and 4rth week in May and they were the same (today and 10 days ago)

I think it's great news! We were at Desire Cabo several times before the change to TTR. We've been to Desire Cancun and Hidden Beach. We've always said Desire Cabo was our FAVORITE.

Steve, is it possible to start a Desire Cabo forum? You have a great site and huge following. It would be nice if we could keep it going.

We were also booked for Desire week May 2-8. Doing weekend to weekend allows us to stay an night. I'll be looking into changing our reservation to May 5-13.

When we were there in Sept for the 3rd time, we decided to join the Premier Membership plan. This allowed us access during non-Desire weeks to stay for about $135/night during high season and about $100/night in the low season per couple for any length of stay totalling 175 nites during the next 15 yrs. I paid $4000 up front and payments for another $4000 within the next 2 yrs. Now getting to Cabo is easy and relatively cheap out of LA, so the math worked out since we like to travel for 7-10 days at a time 2-3 times a yr. Now that is all shot to @#$! since we prefer the Temptation format over the Desire. I directly asked about conversion at that time and was told they would not convert since Desire Cabo years back was not getting enough occupancy and it was taking people from Desire Cancun, thus the change to TTR Cabo. We do not want the constant party feel of Cancun TTR although some prefer it and that is fine. We are definately not prudish and would probably be fine with Desire but feel we are being ripped off when they only offer a 25% discount on rack rates at Desire with our membership, one can do better on travel package sites.

We went to Desire 2 times before the change to TTR and loved it. This year we went to both the Sep & Oct Desire weeks and had a great time again. As was mentioned Los Cabo TTR was not a great party place like Cancun is but that is what we like about it. That and it is eaiser for us to get to Los Cabo then Cancun so we will be making more trips to Desire now.

we are kind of in the same boat on this one

having been to cancun 6 or 7 times (and enjoying that chapter in our life i must add) we now love the ability to not feel as though we have to have a constant party 24/7

hoping that will not change with desire

if it does not change that aspect of it - im sure we will at the very least give a shot

Even when it was a Desire property previously, it was far quieter that the Desire Riviera Maya location(the Desire concept is not a constant adult frat party 24/7 like the Temptation concept) Personally I don't think you will see much of a difference than from your last trip when it was a Temptation property - probably a little more flesh exposed around the pool and hot tub though

We are absolutely thrilled! We met the most amazing group of people during our first Desire experience in Los Cabos in 2008 before it changed to Temptation. We still travel with them, and consider them some of our best friends. Our entire group is excited about the change back to Desire and we are certain we'll be visiting there with some of them as soon as possible after the switch!

And as with any vacation, the party/fun vibe is only as good as the people there.

We liked the TTR concept a bunch and had a superb time there a year ago with great people. This changeover will definitely make us reconsider our trip in Sept, 2012. We inadvertently had our last day there during a Desire takeover last time and, while the people were cool, it was a little tiring explaining over and over again that we were not in the lifestyle. The overall nudity was not a problem for us, we eventually joined in....Ladies hitting on the wife and a certain guy dangling his stuff 3 inches from the wife in the upstairs tub was though...Just sayin'...We will sure talk it over...

My wife and I are not in the lifestyle at all but have been to the Desire Weeks in Cabo and been to Desire Cancun many times. To be honest, we have had more forward approaches about the lifestyle when we were visiting during the Temptation format than the Desire format. If the Desire concept interests you, I think what you experienced previously is not the "norm".

Thank you CLG...And we agree. we had such approaches during the TTR portion of our trip also. We admit we are mystified a little at how some struggle to interpret body language and clues...Oh well. If this is our biggest problem in life....

Good! Increases the number of choices (Hedo II, Desire I, Desire II). We have enjoyed them all. The Cabo price two weeks ago was unbeatable, and a great vacation (but semi clothed and way laid back -- compared to Hedo and Desire).

We are already looking at future trip options. Great news.

We agree. We've not seen over the top propositioning at Desire Cabo but we have at TTR.

We were at TTR Cancun last February and we were flat exhausted. The frat party atmosphere had us done in about half way into the trip.

The one day we actually both managed to fall asleep on the beach on a couple of lounge chairs a couple came over and laid completely on top of us! They surmised we were 'swgrs,' and figured it acceptable to sprawl out on us.
We were both jolted awake and majorly p**sed off.
They were pushy all week and figured they'd go for broke.

Maybe it's time for some sort of coded braclets or something similar to the coded bracelets I've read about on the TTR Cancun site?

We are not lifestylers, do NOT judge those that are, LOVE to be naked and LOVE the classy, sexual vibe at Desire. We've had many conversations and made friends with Lifestylers and those not into it at several clothing optional resorts. There has never been an issue, "NO means NO".

May can't come soon enough!

We are in the lifestyle but very disappointed that TTR in Cabo is going to be Desire. I personally do not want to see a bunch of naked men walking around for a week. We will be going to Temptations Cancun from now on. We were planning on going to Cabo in February but now afraid that the service will not be as good as they are preparing for Desire.

We are very excited about this change and much more likely to go to Cabo now, since it is a non-stop flight from Seattle and Cancun forces us to connect and costs nearly twice as much to fly there.

The other thing I like is that TTR Cabo had more jacuzzi rooms/suites than Desire Mayan Riviera. When I tried to book at Desire, their jacuzzi rooms were booked two years out!! It also is a lot more expensive to stay at Desire Mayan Riviera than TTR Cancun/Los Cabos. I am just hoping that they don't raise their room rate too much when it switches in May, especially if all they change is the nudity restriction!

Whenever we have gone to lifestyle parties or clubs, we have never had a problem with unwanted pestering or obnoxious/unwanted flirting, and no always means no (and very respectfully so). I can't believe what I read about TTR Cancun and the couple that was sleeping on the beach lounge chairs who got "jumped" so to speak! That is unthinkable based on any experience I have had over years of parties/events with hundreds of "swingers" - I am really thinking that couple must have been exploring their wild side for the first time, I can't imagine any other regular "lifestyler" violating personal space so egregiously! Since TTR is not an official lifestyle club, they can't require the orientation that other "first-timers" must attend at real lifestyle clubs, and that is where the rules of conduct are really laid out <lol, I guess pun intended!>

I really prefer a couples environment anyway, as my husband and I do not mingle separately anywhere we go and would rather hang out with another couple we like than singles. My husband didn't like it when single guys would get obnoxious at Patty O's with me, but it wasn't as bad as other stories we have heard about Cancun when we were there.

My birthday is May 3 and we just may plan a trip to Cabo now - woo hoo!!

Well, we are less than thrilled. We really liked the Temptations concept and cabo was cheap and easy to get to.
So here is a question, I guess a better time would have been when it was full desire before during a normal week, is it weird/would you be out of place being a guy there and wearing boardshorts with the mrs topless?
