Default A list of "must brings" for the first timer?

My husband and I will be there Dec 28 - Jan 4th for our Honeymoon. Neither of us have been to Cancun before. He is in Afghanistan now, so Im in charge of all planning. Ive already ordered reef safe sunscreen (as we will be doing quite a few activities outside of the resort), i have our insulated mugs... but I was wondering if there are things you learned with experience to bring on your trip to TTR. SO EXCITED!

Bring a tee shirt to put over the back of your pool chair to reserve. Boobs cruise is a must.

Bring the smallest bikini you have ever seen. Your husband will appreciate it and you both deserve it.

Ummmm....you researched the resort before you booked, right? Probably about 30-70 percent topless depending on the crowd.

You are going to need: an outfit for "lingerie night" (can be as skimpy as you dare) and a pair of boxers or briefs your hubby will wear in public. Silly is good.

You should each take 2 or more bathing suits--they don't dry quickly in the tropics, and no one likes to put on a cold suit. Most women at TTR pull out all the stops swim-wear wise.

If you enjoy dressing up at night or plan to go to the clubs in Cancun, use this as an opportunity to wear sexy dresses and shoes at night. If that isn't your thing, you'll be fine in shorts and flip flops.

Get a large insulated mug for your beverages. They'll fill them for you with no question (the resort's cups are small.)

You won't need as many shorts and shirts as you think--you'll wear a bathing suit and cover-up most days.

Good calls..get your

32oz Bubba Keg at Sears for $7.99

to add to the clothing. I always end up with too much daytime wear (polo shirts and the like)

im going to try to be a little more prepared for the cooler evenings this time at paty0's

Im also always short on t shirts that match my board suits.

When we were there, only a few of the women actually had their tops on at the pool. The majority were topless.

I'd recommend Cipro if you can get it "Need a Script" and Pepto-Bismol, just for safety's sake. We only had one prob out of the last 4 trips, but you can never be prepared enough.
In our crew (April Addicts), most of us used 20 oz. Bubba Mugs. Ibuprophen to take before U go to bed (a couple of them will kick a hangovers ass).
Most girls might not start out topless, but be rest assured they prob will be within a couple of hours/days!
Just remember, Nobody Knows You and Nobody Gives a Shit!!
You'll prob make future lifelong friends there too and perhaps end up being repeaters like most of us!
Enjoy!

There are a couple of lists..(probably many more) that have been generated over the years.. Maybe we need to start a sticky or something...

Anyway here are a couple for reference...

http://www.cancuncare.com/forum/temptation-resort-cancun/16924-what-bring.html

http://www.cancuncare.com/forum/temptation-resort-cancun/15106-must-haves-bring-cancun.html

In addition to the stuff listed previously, people over the years have included things like:

6' extension cords because the plugs are never where you need them
scented candles in case your room has the tropical musty smell
a small first aid kit because you will always scrape something somewhere
sunburn ointment - self explanatory
ear plugs cause someone will always be drunk at 3 AM and they ALWAYS find the hall outside your door

Oh.. and for him.. a tee-shirt that says "I'm just back from the Sandbox!" People will notice and appreciate his, and your, service!

Jamie

I put together a spreadsheet with a list of items to bring with a lot of help from the posts here and what Jamie linked to, a high level schedule, what theme nights fall on which days and when we need to leave for the airport because you will have so much fun, you will forget what day it is....

This list helped to ensure I didn't over pack (still did a little bit), but also helped making sure I had everything I needed. When it came time to packing, I printed it off and just crossed items off as I put them in the suitcase.

I can share it if you want, just shoot me a PM.

Orange wristbands to recognise CancunCare members, we found so many friends wearing them last year.
Plenty of sunscreen as we found out it's twice the price if you run out in Mexico, even at Wallmart prices.
Hangover cures - plenty!

Oh, Im not shy lol
I did travel medicine (prepping international travelers for trips) for a few years, so the cipro is packed. Im excited.

Dark Beer for tanning? Ive never heard of this?

We are already signed up for the boobs cruise and will be doing at least one full day tour (Tulum) and probably gonna dive or check out the cenotes. I didnt want to plan too much and be pissed that we had to leave the resort lol

Im not exactly in teeny bikini shape.. next time lol I have a few normal suits tho... and youre right. Cold bathing suits are never fun!

I was a little worried about the water temps this time of year. Im kinda a wuss. Are the pools warm enough Dec/Jan?

This is what's so great about TTR. Nobody knows you and nobody gives a shit. You will see all different body types and most of the people will be showing it off You shouldn't ever feel like your bikini is too small or your top should be on (at least after you have had a few drinks). Have fun and enjoy yourself!!!

Go to Walmart and get a little case of 5 hour energy drinks, they are awesome after your afternoon nap! You may not think you need one of those, but after staying up until 4 or so every morning makes an hour nap around 4 heavenly!

The pools are heated. Or, at least the party pool is. I never went over to the quiet side. We were there last Feb and it wasn't cold at all. Two years before though, we went at the end of Jan when the pools were not heated and it was pretty cold.

That is GOOD news. Not real concerned with the quiet pool haha
I called the resort before we booked (a few months ago) and someone told me that they werent heated, but I dont think she really knew what I was asking. Her English was about as good as my Spanish, so we didnt get very far. lol Im totally downloading a translator app on my phone.

Don't forget your "fun hat".

In your med kit, bring some cold meds, just in case. Last year, tons of us got a really bad Mexican virus which lasted a month. I was able to buy some cold meds at the resort (with the help of my Pharmacist hubby who could read the ingredients) but someone had a pseudoephedrine, which helped a lot. I am bringing them this year and that should guarantee that I will not get sick.

No matter what the weather is, you will have fun. We have been there several times in the same time frame that you are going and even if the weather was not ideal, we still had fun and met great people.

Funinsandiego-

I'm currently in Afghanistan planning my first trip to TTR in July, curious on how much fun it was and if husband might be in Bagram I could talk to him about the trip. I'm with the 82nd.
