This may be a stupid question. It is my and my husbands first time to TTR and I was wondering what emergency number other parents gave to grandparents when they went, other than cell phone numbers. From what it sounds like, it's a little spendy to receive and to call out on cell phones. Any info on this would be appreciated! Thanks!

We leave our cell phones on to receive calls only, tell people to call for emergencies only.

| Ask your cell provider what the roaming rates are in Mexico for you and if you have a smart phone make sure your data is set to off. Most phones are already set that way by default.

Verizon rates run about .99 cents a minute. We usually call home once a day and leave our phone turned off when not in use. You can always get a calling card and use the outside pay phone. Just don't use your room phone. We also leave the TTR # for emergency messages but have never had to use it.

| In-case you need someone to get a hold you at the resort (calling from US) they should dial 01152 998 8487900 and then ask for the Full name on the reservation. This is the instructions we always leave when we are at Temptation. Have a great time!

We leave the hotel number. It is a hotel after all. Nothing wrong with that, and if a so call emergency happens will they or you really care. Don't have to write the hotel name if that is the problem. 01152 (998)848-7900 and tell them to call the operator if having trouble getting through. They can leave a message with front desk or on room phone if needed. I also give my kids all of the neighbours numbers as I am 5000 miles away and can't really take care of the emergency anyways. Bottom line is if they burn the house down I don't need to know until I get back. My neighbours can and will handle anything that comes up.

I know we will! Mommy just has to get everything organized so she is comfortable with the situation at home. Daddy already has his phone shut off!

Using Facebook is actually a good way to stay in contact with your family back home too... Not so great for emergencies though... There's free wifi in the lobby if you bring a laptop or I think they have computers there too... Just make sure you only check it a couple of times... You're there to have fun in the sun with a bunch of great people, not checking these addictive forums and facebooking.

Oh no, don't want to check facebook or anything like that. My kids are 22 mo., 10 and 11. Over protective mommy thing. Will get over it, tho. All the pics of people on the boobs cruise are getting me to count down the days!

We have US Cellular and setup that our phones can call Mexico if necessary. Otherwise, we call back home a few times using a calling card at the convience store next door to call home. If there were an emergency we give the number to the resort. After our 5 trips I'm sure family has figured out where we go.

I used Facebook to stay in touch with my kids last Oct. I think if you give the hotel phone number to a babysitter with your room number, and keep in touch via FB that it is all good. You can't guarantee internet access, but in an emergency they can at least leave a message and you can call back at $1 per minute. With FB you can stay in touch with non-emergency type communication. It is probably a blessing and curse that my kids are high school age, except for the fact that our neighbors will message us with shenanigans at our house - lol - kids, don't even try it!!!
