Default Worst snowstorm in 60 years - whatever ...

So, Seattle is expected to have the worst snowstorm since 1940 in the next 24 hours! We have had everything come to a halt in the last few days because of a few inches of snow, but they are expecting a foot or more of snow tonight. The timing couldn't be better for us to leave for TTR a week from today! Seriously, this is awesome! We are tan from the tanning bed, and are SO looking forward to the 80+ degree temps - bring it!! I used to think SoCal was too hot, but now I welcome the heat/humidity - and that is huge for me

I can't wait to be on the boobs cruise on the 26th, buy a tube top, and party with Chinos! whatever happens after that, so be it - better than the frozen tundra we are leaving behind!!!!!!! At least there will be no tropical storms - we are so over that!

We hear ya! In Ottawa this morning, it took about an hour to scrape the windows of my car clear of ice -- in the process I broke both my scraper and my wifes scraper! There was about a 1/2" of ice coating EVERYTHING due to the freezing rain overnight followed by a flash-freeze.
80*F and sun... this coming Sunday... BRING IT ON!!!

Damn Guys, you folks have it tough. Here in Buffalo we are having the mildest winter I ever remember. Here it is mid-January and I've only used my snow blower once this entire winter and it hasn't been that cold yet. Even Lake Erie hasn't frozen yet. We've got about two months left and then it will be spring. We may try to get down to TTR at the end of tax season for a break from our non-winter.

It's actually been pretty good here too. No measurable snow yet and only 3 or 4 of thee cold days and then bounces right back up to 40's and 50's. Pretty amazing winter. Not sure I remember one like this.........

It's a snow day here today...no school for my son...no work for me. Glad I brought my work computer home last night. March really can not get here soon enough!

Our backyard on 1/18/12 - got about a foot of snow last night, our water feature pond is frozen solid, and it is about 28 degrees outside. Seattle is basically shut down today because this type of weather is so rare!

Cannot believe one week from today we will be arriving in Cancun - it is just surreal to think about tropical weather right now!

Keep the snow your way

Our youngest is living in Vancouver, WA and he said they had around 4" of snow there today. 22 degrees F here today at noon and no snow cover at all.

We've got you all beat. Wind gusts are making our -30C as cold as -50C. That's frostbite in 5 minutes. We've had a pretty mild winter here for the most part this winter, but just this last week Mother Nature has been flexing her muscles.. and that bitch has some guns. You haven't experienced winter until you've experienced an Arctic cold front attack the Alberta prairies.

yup barely any snow on the ground but bitterly cold, I think here in Calgary we are supposed to get to -34 C tonight. It's cold enough most of the ski hills around here are closed. Yup cold enough that you can't go skiing lol!

It is supposed to start raining tomorrow so back to normal by then :-) Unfortunately, the sheet ice on the roads now keeps everyone trapped at home. There are too many hills to drive in icy conditions here, very dangerous. I can't wait for next week!!!

Everything is a sheet of ice near Bothell right now and people are checking into the hotel that lost power in the area.

Our power has been flickering all night, but that is why we have backup power supplies for all our TVs and computers, this happens all the time up here

I really hope it starts raining so I can get some stuff done - I have been trapped in my house for 3 days because it is too dangerous to drive. I have an appointment to get my eyelashes permed and tinted - can't miss that!! LOL, seemed like a good idea for the trip, but probably not worth risking my life driving on sheet ice to Issaquah!! Those who see me next week, if my eyes look totally fab, you'll know I made it safely to the spa

LOL Diana, what the hell is a snow day. We never have those. It's been minus 43 with the windchill and everything still goes on and on. It has been a good year for the snow though.

Glad you got back before the cold hit. Last time we were at Lutsen, I took garbage out the dumpster and a black bear stuck his head out to greet me. Don't know who was more suprised, but I think I ran fastest.

That sucks. We've been watching the Seattle news on tv...the city is crazy...they've shown people skiing down city streets and buses jack-knifed from trying to get up the streets.

I remover snowstorm 2001 when Seattle was shut down for two days for 6" of snow. We only get a snow day if 6" is during commute time. But, Boston got only our second measurable snowfall yesterday...and we don't even have 3" total this season. Expecting 6" today though.

It rarely snows here so when it does, it is like the zombie apocalypse or something!! What really hit hard was the ice storm on Thursday morning, that has been a nightmare for Seattle on so many levels!! We are on day 3 without power, it is freezing cold, trees are down everywhere because of the heavy ice and everyone has been trapped!! It finally warmed above freezing yesterday afternoon and rained a little so the roads are more slushy than icy, but the no power thing really sucks!! If we don't get it turned on by today, we are going to lose hundreds of dollars in freezer food :-( it was ok when it was below freezing outside, but now everything will thaw without power soon!

We are so ready to leave in 4 days, WE need to thaw!! I just hope the power comes on before we leave!!

We moved to the Seattle area a couple years ago fom KC. Still think it's funny how the city shuts down in the snow. I actually looked foward to getting up and driving to work this week.
