So, how is the music poolside in Cancun? In Cabo, it was pretty bad...several years old and not the great hits from those years. So bad we were gonna donate a ton of CDs if we went back. But not as bad as the Mrs. spin class...Good Golly Miss Molly for spin? Good grief.

We didn't care for a lot of the music, repetitive techno-sound stuff mostly. They could mix it up a little!

I'm referring to the music at the pool mostly, we had a band at Patio's that was very diverse & really pretty good!

ttr cancun is nothing like ttr cabo.. only in name.. cancun is way, way more fun IMHO..the cancun resort is set up for meeting people, Paty'os bar is nothing like the the one in cabo.. there are actually tables and chairs at ttr cancun instead of round beds and little spots for couples to sit.. nothing wrong with it if its what you like .. but I dont think you will find it simular at all.. except for the people .. very social in both places..and the music is different too in cancun its more techno dance party music..

Sounds good. We were looking for a wilder party atmosphere than Cabo. While it was fun, everyone kind of kept to themselves. We only chatted up a few couples. Some of our new best friends came up to us the first day and said "Kenny Chesney on the ipod AND an 'I Like Boobs' t-shirt? We had to come meet you guys..." :-)

It could have also been the week we were there. Even the bachelor party guys were subdued. It was a little boring...so boring we drank waaaaay too much. Passing out in nothing but sunglasses sounds funny, but it's not cool in reality.

The music is a lot better in Cancun , but still repetitive especially in the mornings.

I've heard of people trying to bribe the DJ to change gendras to no avail,
The Techno sh1t is ok at night for a while but during the day when all the kids (20 to 30 group) are sleeping and not even there,,,, mix it up for His sake ,,

we were in cabo in November, we found it a bit on the boring side.. although we did'nt mind it in the day..and we are not hot tub people..
and we went to actually have a vacation.. so it was all good..
we knew before going that it was more layed back.. so it work for us.. withthat said.. we wouldnt go back and come May, its a full time Desire resort again..which is a way better fit for it.. we LOVED CABO... the weather especially .. but we are addicted to ttr cancun.. 5th or 6th trip coming up for us..

They play the same 10 techno songs over and over, typical bar stuff and remixes. When they play 80s stuff, people start singing along and it is much better. I wish they would put a schedule of music out so we knew when to avoid the pool - lol! If I hear that LMFAO party song one more time ... or "this night's going to be a good night" - I'm going to get medieval on someone!

Or the remake of Dr Hook's "Alice" repeated every 30 minutes??? Really? It was stuck in my head even after we landed back at home.

Early in the morning, say, 9am - 11am, they were playing a mix of everything by the sexy pool on some days, and it was really fun - heard some stuff I'd not heard in years. BUT...they were doing this mash-up thing where they only played like 30 seconds or so of each song and then went into the next one. That got really annoying after about half an hour.

Great they were playing a mix of stuff, but why not play the whole song, not just a 30 second clip of it?

I really don't understand the music choice. Fair enough in the evening, but all day every day too? What is wrong with playing a bit of variety in the day?

I havent been to TTR yet so I cant comment on the music. But in my travels it seems that most places run the same lame songs over and over again where indigenous music would be better appreciated. And if you ask if there are other cd's they could play they usually kindly say with a smile "yes" and keep playing the same old songs . Anyways...after a few dozen shots the "Archies" may sound good so what the heck. The music Im sure wont affect the party atmosphere.

Does it seem weird to anyone else that they don't take requests?

It seems that resorts would bend over backwards to accommodate the guests' tastes, but that doesn't seem to be the case anywhere we've been.

I'm thinking of bringing a waterproof ipod dock this time.

Sultryfox, I'm with you on the LMFAO. Made me want to kick a baby after the 1287th time!!!!

The music kept us away from the sexy pool and Patty O's. We aren't late night people but even if we were the music would keep us away. Spent our time at the beach. There was a guy at the Bikini bar most evenings with an ipod dock setup playing much better music plus we liked the bartenders there ( Pedro).

I will give TTR credit in that they have changed their music. They used to only play techno all day long every day at the sexy pool (this was 2 years ago). That got very old very fast. Last time we were there we did like the music in the morning. The afternoon music was hit or miss. We really didn't like the 30 second songs either.
