| cab is the easiest. I had to run down there last year. i paid the cabbie $100 for a trip down there and back with a 5 minute stopover in Playa. It's about an hour each way. bus and collectivo is also possible. personally, I wouldn't waste the time because a cab is easy and fast. but i'm sure that it would be cheaper. no idea how much but if a guy knew what he was doing, you could probably get there and back for $10 and a few extra hours. |

| We've taken a cab down on a few different trips. $50 each way is the norm. This year we're going to be a bit adventorous and take the bus. We're at TTR 2/9 - 19, going on the booze cruise the 13th and will do a trip to Playa sometime after that. |

| Took a cab both ways to RIU Palace Riviera Maya... Paid 55 each way 2 people. Long cab ride, assume driver drives back, at least to airport. Lot of time and gas for driver, seemed like a good deal - almost fell sorry for the cabbie. **** Taking the Fam in October to Playacar and will rent a car. The rental will cost as much as airport transport and need to commute between the kids hotel and the Adult hotel my sister is getting married at.

| cabs are way too expensive. You need to go to the downtown bus station, it's right off Tulum Avenue. At the bus station, they have buses running to Playa del Carmen every 15 minutes. The fare is (are you ready for this ????) 4 dollars one way. Buses are very comfortable, air conditioned and they even show movies on board and also very safe.. The bus station in Playa del Carmen is right on the main drag there on 5th. Avenue |
