This was our first trip to BBG. We ended up getting to the hotel about 3hrs before we could check in. So, we got our bracelets, left our luggage at the front desk, and scheduled the few tours that we had wanted to do while in Mexico for our first time. Then we changed into our swimsuits, went directly to the bar, and ordered a drink. From there, we headed straight to the beach. This was the first time either of us had a chance to swim in the Ocean so we dove right in! While lazing on the beach, Shannon and I started talking about if she was going to go topless while here. “This is the first time I’ve ever even worn a bikini!” she said, “I’m going to need some time before I can go topless”. Soon after we heard some activities going on up at the Sexy pool so we went to check them out. It was the Mr. Blue Bay contest. Alejandra corralled Shannon into the corner of the bar with the rest of the women judging the contest. Many of you know how this game goes! Soon enough all of the contestants were jumping into the pool to collect swimwear! The next thing that I saw, after all of the splashing and screaming subsided, was my beautiful wife sitting at the bar topless! It took an hour! After playing on the beach and at the pool for a while our room was ready so we went up and unpacked. Neither of us had had anything to eat but a mediocre breakfast sandwich on the plane so we decided to get some dinner at the Buffet. With our bellies now full, we decided to get some drinking done. However, with all the travel and booze from the afternoon Shannon didn’t last very long. (I think I put her to bed around 9:00 p.m.) I was not nearly ready for bed, so I went down to Margarita’s. There I met some really neat people from all over the globe. Martin, Neil, Willowells, Holli (a.k.a. Lazy). After I had a couple of hours of “all-inclusive” drinks, Shannon woke up and was now ready to party. I remember introducing her to everyone that I had met and that’s about where my memory fades for the evening. We woke up on Tuesday and Shannon quickly ran down to the pool to set our towels out. We decided that after breakfast we were going to go into town and do some shopping. This was our first experience on the public buses. Wow, what a ride! We got on the bus and before I could figure out how much I needed to pay, (this was my first purchase in Mexico) the driver slammed on the gas and took off! Which threw us almost three rows into the bus, so we quickly found some seats and rode it out. (We never did pay for that ride. It was not intentional but the driver didn’t seem to care as long as we didn’t slow down his route. Bien chi Gringo!) So, we got off the bus somewhere in Cancun. We didn’t really know where we were or where we were going so we just wondered around a little. The sun was very intense and my sunglasses were not enough. This is where I made a decision that I would later find out to be a defining moment of the trip. I bought a straw “COWBOY” hat. It seemed like a practical decision at the time. Lightweight, blocked the sun, a little string to tie it with when it was windy. Not exactly my style, but what the hell, I’m in Mexico! After a little more shopping, we went back to Blue Bay and hung out at the pool for the rest of the afternoon. This is where we met a lot of the people from the forum. Carol, Kristen, Angie, OCJ. and many others. We spent the evening at Nice Shoes and Margaritas. Wednesday we were away from the resort all day. We took the tour of Chichen Itza. This also included swimming in a cenote and a fantastic lunch at some resort out by Chichen Itza. I know that a lot of people come to Cancun just to party, but I would highly recommend taking the day trip at least once to see Chichen Itza! We got some souvenirs there for our kids. This pretty much consumed the day but it was worth it. We decided to spend most of the day out by the pool on Thursday. Someone, a couple of days earlier, had mentioned how “white” we were and we felt the need to remedy that! So we just hung out by the pool drinking and swimming and enjoying the sun when the question that changed the course of the entire trip came from Chino’s mouth. “Hey Cowboy! Do you want to play Crazy Darts?” I agreed to play and then he asked if Shannon would play. I told him he would have to ask her. He asked and she reluctantly agreed. The exact details of this game should not be discussed on an open forum. What happens in Mexico, stays in Mexico! (Except for the bruises...Those came home with me!) I am still looking for pictures from this event, so if any of you that were there have pictures, please send them to us. After the dart game, we played water volleyball. Then we had to catch a van to Riviera Maya for a sunset dinner cruise. It was very nice except as we were boarding the boat they had the Celine Dion song “My Heart Will Go On” playing. They also called the boat the “Mexican Titanic!” Kind of unsettling the first time you board a boat going into the ocean! All went well and the sunset was beautiful! The dinner was also very good. We were gong to try to make it to Carlos and Charlie’s to meet up with the rest of the people from the forum, but we got back too late. Once back to BBG, we decided we were too tired to find Carlos and Charlie’s so we stayed at BBG. Friday was just a lazy day by in the pool and on the beach. We decided to “Senor Frogs” with the hotel bus just to check it out. It was lively and the band was good, but the scene was not really for us. It was fine though. We did get drunk and got to experience the Cancun nightlife. The waiter even persuaded Shannon to take a shot of Cuervo! (She hates tequila!) You have to have at least one shot of tequila in Mexico! Saturday was spent mostly by the pool. Chino & Alejandra came up to us early in the day and asked if we wanted to play the “Dating Game”. Obviously, we were a little leery of it with memories from the dart game still fresh in our minds, but Angie convinced us that it was safe. So we entered and Won! I played Tequila Volleyball after the dating game. Shannon had had her one shot of tequila the night before so she just watched and took pictures. There were only three or four people on each side so everyone was blamed for a lot of mistakes. I guess I got pretty into the game, and would forget what my attire was, so as I was jumping for many a volley . . . Well I hope everyone enjoyed the show! Although we had won Gift Certificates to Senor Frog’s in the dating game, we really had wanted to check out Margaritaville before we left. So, we went there for dinner instead. It was very good, but neither of us could eat anymore than half of our burgers. Sunday we took a cruise out to Isla Mujeres. We did some snorkeling, shopping, eating and drinking. The same basic stuff I have heard about these trips. We refrained from swimming with the toothless shark. The critter just looked sad. The weather was just good enough on the way back that we were able to ride the spinnaker. That was pretty cool. I’d like to try it again sometime. Sunday night we were just beat. So much fun had been had, but we had to leave the next morning. So, we just stayed in our room and turned on the T.V and were out by 9:00pm. Monday morning we packed up and left. Our flight was delayed and hour and a half, but that was okay, because I was finally able to find the bottle of tequila at the duty-free that I had been searching for the entire trip! When we planned this vacation, we thought it would be a one-time thing for our honeymoon. Things have changed! We will be back! Thank you Blue Bay and everyone that made this a memorable trip![/b]

Yeah, we are definatley planning on going back. Unforunately, I don't think we will be able to swing more than one trip a year. We really would like to though! As far as hogging the chairs that day, that was an oversight and we hope we didn't put anyone out. We set them out before we decided to go to town, and then forgot about them until later.

Hey Matt: Sounds like you both had a great time. Too bad I had to leave the next day after meeting you and we didn't get to party together. You mentioned Holli in your TR. I am so upset. I spent so much time with her and had so much fun partying with her. We were supposed to exchange contact information but that last night we were drunk (like every other night) and forgot and the next morning I went looking for her but couldn't find her and then had to leave to come home. Do you (or anyone for that matter that is reading this) have her e-mail or anything? I am going back in May this year and again next year same time in Feb. What a great resort. thx. Lisa

Can;t wait for the 2nd one!! hehehe

Pics are up! Click on the WWW box under the signature. Some of the shots are out of order though. I rearranged them on the Webshots website about ten times but it would not save. I'll try again later but thought I would link it now anyway.
