November 17-27, 2006 Trip Report

Okay, I am going to premise this trip report with saying this was our first trip to Cancun and BBG. And I should have taken a note pad and written notes each day but I am not that organized on vacation so I am doing this completely by memory. J

November 17th- We left out of Indy pretty much without a hitch on Friday morning, flew through Charlotte and arrived in Cancun just a few minutes late. Got our luggage and got the green light so off we went. I forgot to warn John not to stop and talk to any of the people trying to get you to listen to them….so we got stopped by a time-share guy and then we had to walk over to the booth because he was very persuasive. John ended up giving him a $40.00 deposit and they were supposed to pick us up the next morning to tour a new hotel (supposedly) for an hour yeah right—I said probably more like 5 hrs.no time share he said…free breakfast, free tequila, free jungle tour, the whole nine yards…and soon as we meet with Olympus Tours and get outside to wait for our shuttle, John tells our Olympus Rep that he gave this guy $40.00 so they proceed to go back in the airport to get it. They come put about 20 minutes later with his money and off we go in the van to our hotel. Once we got in the van, it didn’t take us too long. I believe we stopped at 3 other hotels besides ours and of course ours was last but we enjoyed the different sites along the way so it was all cool.

We check in with no problem. They give us room 1307. We had booked an ocean view room, which I guess it was an ocean view room but more of a pool view on the quiet side. With our balcony facing the pool and if you look to the left the ocean and from our front door hallway we could see part of the sexy pool, sport pool, ocean and Nice Shoes Bar. But we decided we were on vacation and we were not going to be asked to be moved. It was a nice room with a good view and it did not have an ounce of smell to it even though I had brought a plug in just in case. J They wanted us to come down as soon as we took our luggage to our room for the “Tour” of the resort but we said we had not eaten all day and needed a drink as well. We went to Las Margaritas for a cocktail and some food and found a seat at the bar. Talked to a few people and then went back to our room to settle in. I honestly cannot even remember if we ate dinner later on that night or even came out of our room. John found channel 12 (which I had not told him about—thought I would let it be a nice surprise) and we broke in the bed and balcony…LOL…J

November 18th -Saturday we woke up to a beautiful day J. Ate a great breakfast, coffee and juice and headed out to get some sun. I believe I had my top on for all of about 10 minutes and off it went for the rest of the day and pretty much the week. Although I seemed to have gotten more brave as the week went on….LOL….more on that later…We went to have a cocktail or two at Las Margaritas before dinner and meet up with a couple we had met at the beach during the day and then went to the Italian Restaurant for dinner and it was awesome. We had a portabella mushroom appetizer, Caesar salad, John had the Veal and I had the Salmon, we both had desert and we ordered a good bottle of wine….Very good food and atmosphere and service was superb as well. After dinner we ventured back to Las Margaritas and had another drink or two and said goodbye to the friends we had met that day because that was there last night. Then we called it a night.
November 19th- Sunday we had a great breakfast again J and it was very overcast and a little windy so we found a seat around the sexy pool and hung out and talked to a nice couple sitting next to us but they had to leave that day so we had a chat with them for a couple of hours or so. Since it was Sunday and our Indianapolis Colts were playing we went in about 2pm took a quick shower, got ready and ventured out of the resort, caught a public bus to the Outback Bar to watch the game. We had some cocktails and an appetizer and watched our Colt’s lose the first game of the season L After the game, ventured back to the hotel and got a seat at Las Margarita’s for few drinks. Met a couple from Toronto, Michael and Stacey, whom had just arrived so we had a drink with them. They had reservations at Ruth Chris Steakhouse that evening so they went to dinner and we had another drink, talked to a few people at the bar and then had dinner at the buffet and called it a night.

November 20th- Monday we had our typical yummy breakfast and ventured out to the sexy pool/beach area. Hung out with our friend Mark from North Carolina that we had met over the weekend. Watched the fun and entertaining games at the Sexy pool. We made reservations again at the Italian Restaurant because we liked it so much. After dinner, we went to Las Margarita’s for drinks ran into our friend’s Stacey and Michael, from Toronto. We had planned on going to Coco Bongo with the Activities Staff but Stacey and Michael wanted to check out, The City Nightclub so we caught a cab with them. We hung out there for a bit until we thought we might get kicked out and then left there and went across the street to another club, which I am not even sure what it was called but we had a good time, drinking shots of Tequila and dancing and then sometime in the wee hours of the morning caught a cab back to the hotel, stopped at the liquor store along the way and drank some more in our room….to the even more wee hours of the morning. As we were all seating in our room talking, John sat on a chair in our room and it collapsed to the floor along with him….more on that later.

November 21st- Tuesday AM we were not feeling too great, imagine that…LOL…. I finally got up about Noon and decided to venture outside for some sun….John was still sleeping…for the first and only time went to the quiet pool because I didn’t think my head could handle the music at the sexy pool. And I just wanted to sleep in the sun. However, that didn’t last long because about 130pm the wind picked up and then it became major cloudy and down right cold so I went back to the room about 2 pm and went back to bed. We ended up not doing anything else that day. I am not sure we even ate.

November 22nd -Wednesday AM we had our typical yummy breakfast again…we were starving because I don’t think we even ate the day before. We went out and hung out by the sexy pool –I believe it was a halfway decent day today. I had my usual drinks etc, throughout the day… John went up to the room sometime in the afternoon to find a note from management on the door regarding the broken chair. So he went down to the front desk to talk to him regarding it…the manager proceeded to tell him that he was going to pay for the chair, etc. John proceeded to tell him that he just sat on it (which was totally the truth) and it collapsed to the floor…manager proceeded to tell him that he did not care and that he was still going to have to pay for it…..to say the least the discussion got a little heated, etc. He had to fill out an accident report and go to the hospital to get checked out per management. So about 430-5pm we catch a cab to the Hospiten Cancun, which American Express recommended when John called them. Hospital was very clean, people were very nice including the doctors and for an emergency room, they seem to be very efficient. 2 exams by 2 different doctors and x-rays –we were in and out in less than 2 hrs and only spent about $408.00 US. We caught another cab back to BBG, dropped off the accident report, etc at the manager’s desk and headed to our room to get cleaned up. We were supposed to go out with Michael and Stacey this evening and meet then at Las Margarita’s at 7pm but we didn’t make it down there until about 815pm and they were no where to be found. So we ordered a drink and talk to some people at the bar. It was a little chilly this evening so John decided to go back upstairs to get a jacket. So I said I would just hang out and wait for him. I talked to another Kimberly and John that came up and introduced themselves and a few other people and about 40 minutes later, John shows back up and he is with Michael and Stacey. I guess he went by their room and knocked on their door and they had just gotten back to their room, they thought we stood them up. So we decide we are just going to hang out Margaritas and drink, so we do a few shots and drinks, have some good laughs and then the bar is closing up but we are not done drinking so we go over to the Alternative Bar and play a game of pool and have one more and then we call it a night since we have to go on the boat in the morning.

November 23rd - Thursday –Thanksgiving we woke up late so we didn’t get to eat breakfast because we had to meet at 930am for the Don Diego Boat Trip to Island. We are a little disappointed when we see that there are children getting on the boat and we were told that this was an adult only trip today just for BBG. (guess I will have to keep the top on today). It ended up being okay because it wasn’t the warmest day anyways. We watched a bunch of people from the boat snorkel while we just laid out on the boat trying to get some sun and having a few drinks. We then went to the town on the Island and went shopping for a bit. I bought a really pretty bracelet. I talked the guy down to 50% off of what he was asking for it. I felt like I got a decent deal. J We again boarded the boat and went to the Beach, where they served us a lunch buffet (which was pretty good) and we had lots of laughs, Me, John and Mark. John had moved the hot sauce sign to the mild sauce so people were pouring this hot sauce on their food (and I mean this stuff was damn hot)…we both love hot food but my lips burned for 20 minutes after eating it. We just sat there and watched people’s faces, people running to the restroom, etc. Then we took some pictures and boarded the boat. It was a pretty windy day but the captain decided that we could do the parasailing thing on the boat (I can’t remember what it was called). We decided just to watch because by this time it was chilly and you have to get wet and I didn’t want to be up in the air freezing. But we watched about 8 people do it and enjoy themselves and we were cheering them on. J Oh they made me drink 2 tequila shots on the boat on the way back because John wouldn’t drink his so they made me do his also. We arrived back about 530pm and we were worn out. We went to our rooms with every intention of taking showers, getting dinner and having some drinks. But we ended up laying on the bed and both falling asleep. We woke up about 8pm but decided we were too tired to get ready for dinner so no Thanksgiving dinner for us. I think we did enjoy some Channel 12 entertainment again J

November 24th- Friday AM woke up starving from not eating dinner night before so we had our yummy breakfast again and the sun is actually shining today J Yippee and it is very warm today J We get some chairs right by Diego’s Bar and the Sexy pool but on the beach. John is a little burnt today from not putting any sunscreen on his face and head on the boat. So he brought his book out and read sitting on his favorite swing (man he loved that swing) ---I think it was because he could see all the girls in all directions. LOL…It is a pretty warm day so I ended of getting in the Sexy Pool for the first time all week (which is very cold) but once you were in for a few minutes it is not so bad. Mark jumped in with me and we swam around for about 30 minutes. Ate lunch (boy do they have the best Guacamole at BBG…I love that stuff. Then back out in the sun we went and boy did that sun feel good. We watched the activities throughout the day around the pool, had cocktails, talked and read my book a bit as well. A very relaxing, fun day in the SUN J. That evening we went and had a cocktail at Las Margaritas then ate dinner at the buffet and then back out for more cocktails at Las Margaritas, met up with Mark at the bar, walked over to Nice Shoes and watched the Humanity Dance Troop Show and then back to the bar and met up with Kimberly and John and another couple that had been on the boat with us and chatted for awhile. A young guy walked over and asked my husband and Mark if either of them were with me and my husband said yeah I am with her but that is very nice that you asked before you made your move. And the young guy said well I figured I had nothing to lose and you are a lucky guy because she is beautiful. My husband said thank you and so did I as I was grinning ear to ear. (It made me feel good since I was probably 15 years older than him).. J We had a couple of more drinks while watching two women make out on one of those beds at the bar and then we called it a night and I grabbed a hot dog on the way back to the room since I hadn’t eaten much for dinner. We turned Channel 12 on when we got back to the room and you know what that led to….J

November 25th- Saturday AM woke up and guess what we went and ate our typical yummy breakfast again. Unfortunately the weather was not cooperating much again. So John grabbed his book and sat on his favorite swing at the bar. I sat on the one next to him. It seemed there were a bunch of new faces today so we were just people watching. And trying to find some people that were supposed to arrive from this board, like Blondie, Lynn and Ruth, Tim and Alicia and a few others but never found any of them. And then Alejandra –sp? cast member said they needed volunteers for the Body Shot contest….(we had not joined in any of the contest the whole week) but we had enjoyed watching them. She begged us so John said yeah we will do it….I had to run up to the room real quick and put my bathing suit bottoms on since I only had on capris since it was not that warm out. There were 3 couples in it, us, a nice older couple that had visited BBG about 25 times (and they were there to renew their vows) –I am trying to remember their names, Sid and I can’t remember hers-although we talked to them a lot, and another girl that was paired with Lalo, I believe. Well, I thought we did a fantastic job (the 69 and all) but the couple renewing their vows one, which was cool……But little did I know that my adventure wasn’t over with yet---Never trust Chinos. He grabs me and the other younger girl and says he needs to use us. Then he has Lynn lay down (yep, you got it boys) –this was a Threesome all girl body shot J I got the top half and the other girl got the bottom half, which on Lynn either half is pretty good-I am sure you guys will agree J( I think Lynn might have had an orgasm right there because that girl was not stopping –she was going to town as they say) J Hey but we finished at the same time and saved Lynn from the freezing cold sexy pool. We got lots of applauses and screams from the crowd. Okay, way to start off the morning since I had not had anything to drink yet and now I have had 3 shots of Tequila. Then we just hang out around the sexy pool and watch the contest where the guys/girls switch suits. That was great –now I know that the guy that was switching suits with Lynn was Jamie (after reading his trip report) he actually looked pretty good in her bathing suit bottoms and my husband was jealous… ….That was great fun watching…..!! Then I noticed Michael and Stacey over by the Sport’s Pool and Tequila Volleyball had just started so I decided to join them to watch. And then a few minutes later John joined us. I felt so sorry for this guy that was on Lynn’s team—he was really pitiful and she gave him hell. I just loved her…she was so much fun and full of energy the whole 10 days we were there. But she could be down right mean sometimes..LOL..After the volleyball game, Chinos walked by and asked us if we wanted to play horseshoes and I thought to myself do I really trust Chinos…John said it is just a game of horse shoes…I think we are safe…. J wrong, you are never safe with Chinos just remember that, I found out really quick. Well I got on Chinos team…about 2 throws into it, he decided to change the rules and marked a spot and said if I did not get past that spot then I had to take a piece of clothing off. I agreed, not sure what I was thinking since I have not played horseshoes in about 15 years and am horrible. To say the least I ended up with no clothes, however he did give me a towel. But he kept making me motivate him as he called it so he would do well. When we started playing there was no one watching this game of horseshoes and by the time we finished, I believe the entire place was watching, cameras, video cameras, etc. Then when the game was over with –Chinos was supposed to give me my bathing suit bottoms back and I was supposed to give him the towel at the same time…he tricked me and made me be totally nude for a few minutes. “I am going to get you Chinos”. It is about 430 pm and to say the least after this game of horseshoes, I needed a drink. Michael, Stacey, John and Myself walked over to the Rio Restaurant across the street because we decide we want some champagne. We end up having 2 bottles of champagne, 4 shots of some awesome top shelf tequila and 1 shot of Jagermeister a piece. And I order some shrimp cocktail and John orders a sandwich. After we are pretty well on our way, we decide to go back to BBG to clean up and have some drinks at Las Margarita’s. We get cleaned up and go down to the bar and some more drinks, not that we need it. We walk over to Nice Shoes and Michael and Stacey decide to get in the couples dance contest. They did great but Marcus and this young cute girl win. They could dance. We end up meeting Marcus at the bar and have a conversation with him about different resorts like Desire, Hedonism and the differences between BBG. I guess at some point we find a table and drink and chat some more then we grab one last drink before closing time and head back up to Michael and Stacey’s room and talk and drink until wee hours of the morning again. We say goodbye to them, exchange email addresses and phone numbers since they were leaving today. I would have hated to be them since they were being picked up at 830am probably still drunk.

November 26th- Sunday –I think we pretty much missed this day due to our partying the night before until way wee hours of the AM. I had planned to go out by the pool about 11am but never made it. I am not even sure we left the room this day other than hanging out on the balcony. I did finally get up about 530pm and took a shower because we were supposed to go watch the Colts game somewhere again but John did not budge in bed so I laid back down in bed and must have fallen back asleep because we missed the game. But hell we were on vacation so I guess this was one of our relaxing days. J
Unfortunately, I believe the sun was out on this day L and we missed it. Oh well.

November 27th -Monday AM---This was our day to leave and we were a little bummed. We got up very early –took showers, went to breakfast one last time and savored the food and the moment. Then we quickly went back to our room just to make sure everything was packed and ready to go. By this time it is about 915am and we are not being picked up until 11am so we have some time. The sun is shining bright this day and very warm, oh course, so we head down to the sexy pool/beach area. I grab a beach lounger, take my top off one last time and just lay in the warm sun. Our friend, Mark from North Carolina joins us and we take some pictures, say goodbyes to some people that we had met, and now it is about 1045am….Time to go get our luggage and head down to check out. So we go over and say goodbye to Chinos and I give him a big hug and kiss and he says don’t say goodbye –I will just see you next time. And he tells me to work on my horseshoes J
And I say you got it. J We grab our luggage and head down to check out. Sign our receipt and jump on the Olympus Tour Van that is already waiting for us. Uneventful trip to the airport, buy some last minute souvenirs, buy 4 bottles of duty free alcohol and sit down in Cancun for one last meal at the airport. Time to board the plane and head home. L

All in all we had a wonderful trip. BBG is a great resort. Very clean, service was excellent (except for management), and the cast members are wonderful. The food was very good; neither of us are very picker eaters but even if you are – I believe you could still find something to eat. We only went to the Italian Restaurant twice (which was awesome) and didn’t try the other 2 restaurants, even though we had 4 tickets to eat at them (which we gave to another couple the day we left). The maids, bartenders, servers, etc. were fabulous. The only small negative I would have about BBG is the alcohol they serve, if you are used to drinking top shelf brands and you are staying for an extended stay –you might want to upgrade to the Silver plan. I didn’t but there were many of times when I wish I had done that. But you can always go to the liquor store and buy your own as well. Oh and the Italian Restaurant has a great wine list that you can purchase from as well. You can definitely go there and be yourself and no one is going to judge you. Their motto is so true!!! The only thing that would have made our trip perfect would have been the weather to be great every day we were there so we could have enjoyed the pools more and came home with a better tan. We are major beach and ocean people typically when we go on vacation and we usually don’t get in a pool –we always get in the ocean. The beach at BBG is not the biggest in the world by any means but it was clean. For the ocean water at BBG, I only got in a few times due to the weather but it definitely was not the clearest or prettiest water I have ever seen by any means but with the sexy pool being right there it really didn’t matter much. Everyone that we met there during our stay seemed to be awesome people. I wish we had met up with some of the people from the canuncare. But we still met some wonderful people to hang out with during our stay and unfortunately I must have drunk too much to remember everyone’s name but that is what vacations are all about. J Thanks to everyone that we talked to before we left for your thoughts and recommendations.

P.S. Sorry this trip report was so long…I tend to talk a lot. And I am sure I left out some stuff but I believe I managed to remember most of it.

It is tough to balance the partying to a point that you don't miss everything the next day. It sure is easy to miss out on an evening, or the next day. Glad you found some sun.

Yes it is tough to balance and not sure we did the best job possible..but next time maybe I will bring some hangover medicine or something..LOL.

Okay I had looked for you also on Saturday but for some reason thought you were arriving on Friday....but then we left the resort Saturday afternoon to go across the street and then got down to Las Margaritas but it was probably 10pm or so....Looked for you two there as well.

Well I was trying to be a good sport about it I was a little shocked at myself for doing it---just for the sure fact that I was sober...LOL...I guess Chinos brought out the wildness in me...LOL and my husband wasn't helping..encouraging Chinos along...LOL...anytime, you can be my partner but obviously I am not very good at horse shoes
Wish we could have met you two...maybe next time.

I was right there with Jamie, We enjoyed the view but it wouldn't have felt right to snap away. I did take 200+ pictures If I find any with you I'll let you know.

I do hope we can meet up on another trip.

Great TR. We are new to this message board and haven't been to Cancun yet. We are planning a trip for Nov. 17-27 of 2007 and were wondering if you would plan this same trip knowing how the weather could be, or would you go earlier, like Sept or Oct.

The weather last November was strange, I know people who have lived here 20 years and never seen anything like it. Chances are it wont be so bad in 2007.

Also, November while still in hurricane season it's the tail end, so chances of a big hurricane while still slim is more likely in Sept/Oct.
