Ive been shitting it about this weather all weekend and yes its a tropical storm now. All the forecast tracks have it missing Cancun HOWEVER - you can never tell with these things. Last year Dean was forecast to hit cancun right on mor or less - but it changed direction slightly at the 11th hour and hit further south and made a real mess!!

We're scheduled to fly out on Saturday from the UK and I'll be watching this weather very closely! Got 3 night shifts to do from tomorrow - and MAN theyre gonna be long ones storm watching!!!

Heres hoping that Gustav (which is what the bloody storm is called now) keeps the hell outta Cancun and doesnt cause too much damage anywhere really. Florida realy does not need anymore bad weather really!!

Not worried about this one at the moment at all. All the tracking paths have it heading pretty much where TS Fay went. (BTW we didnt see a single drop of rain or even a cloud as a result of Fay)

It could change direction but a change to a more southerly direction would be unusual, these things normally change to be more northerly if anything.

Good point Steve - it was Dolly that caused a few 'showers' (understatement LOL) for you guys. What were the forecast paths for that like? Heres hoping you escape. I mean - we dont want to miss our vaca and the booze cruise but you guys live there and have to cope with a devstation if a hurricaine hits (like Wilma) I shudder everytime I think about the mess that one made!

I have your crisps BTW - theyre all packed up and ready!!!

We are getting rain from fay all the way up here in tennessee. But we needed it so no complaints at all. Now I don't have to water my grass.

I wish we were - you guys will prob be OK - I'm hoping upon hope that the hurricane misses cancun however I'm a little worried about wether our flight will still go seeing as at around the time the storm passes Cancun - our flight will be due to land! I know they can fly over and around storms but if its on Cancun airport - what will happen? God only knows!!!! I'll be gutted if we can't go - its not easy for me to change my vaca time at work with me being a nurse - the rota's are done a month in advance!!!

All we can do is watch and wait!! Hopefully we'll see you on saturday afternoon franko!! - Safe journey bud

just checked the nation hurricane center and it looks like from yesterday, it has changed and cancun will take some type of a hit, although not direct so I am guessing it wont be to bad!

Hmm, yes this one has changed course massively in the last 24 hrs, things not looking so good now for Cancun... possibly jeopardising the cruise on Sunday.

Well I would say that Ive become quite well versed in watching these f**kers over the past 3 years and it all depends on how Gustav interacts with land. I know hurricane Dean went south last year and missed Cancun however most of them have made a move north. If Gustav goes south - I think Cancun will get battered unless it goes WELL south. If it goes North and into the gulf of mexico then Cancun may get rain and some wind but nothing too bad - but you never know!! Oh well - nowt we can do about and the safety of everyone who lives in Cancun ir who's gonna be there is more important than my holiday. So I pray the bugger goes north and doesnt cause too much damage to anyone really.

God my night shifts are gonna be long!! I bet I dont sleep a wink through the days either. I'm gonna look a right state IF we get to Cancun on saturday LOL

Hey Ho - mother nature eh? (biyatch LOL  )

Right now it's hot and sunny with a few puffy white clouds around and well over 90F.

You can always get an idea of current sky conditions at my webcam site:

http://www.webcamcancun.com/

We wont see any effects of this storm until Saturday.

This is NOT looking good for us - we fly out of the UK on sat and I've read on weather underground that Cancun and cozumel airport is gonna be closed as of sat afternoon which is when were due to land! So I dont think we'll be coming and I'm VERY pissed off!!

Moreover - its gonna be a cat 3 by Friday and a few of the models have it heading straight for cancun which is shit for you guys and I hope to god ur OK. Dont know what we do now really!! BUGGER!!!

No way can they state that with any authority at this stage - it's far too unpredictable this far out.

We (myself and a few Cancun expat friends) are dusting off our hurricane Cancun blog - so please keep an eye on it.

http://www.hurricanecancun.com/

Last time for hurricane Dean we had 145,000 visitors in one day and had several TV and newspaper interviews.

I'll keep watching the blog and pray it all works out well!!

keep it up on my computer here at work.....just talked to Curt and told him maybe we need to change the time of year we go?? I just enjoy all the company that goes this time of year.

We aren't scheduled to arrive untill the 6th, but if Cancun take a direct hit, dont think that will happen....

Hey folks,

Keep praying and using the power of thought maybe we can all steer Gustav away from Cancun.

I am sure it will stay away from Cancun - mother nature can't be that cruel and have another one like Wilma hit again so soon.

Max - I cant believe its only four days until you go - keeping my finger's crossed for all that are heading out of the UK over the next week - our friends viv and neil head out next Tuesday. When I see your countdown it makes it even closer for us to go - two weeks today we will be in London.

Take care everyone and keep praying and everything crossed that Gustav will stay away from paradise.

Bye for now

Its odd, I have a friend going to the bahamas this weekend, and yesterday she thought her trip was in danger. Today, things look perfectly fine for her. Now it looks like cancun may take some sort of hit.... I hate it!! Pray pray pray
