I was going to book at Temptations, but decided not too since I am not sure how my wife would feel. Never been to Cancun and not sure what to expect at Temptations.
I have already got her to loosen up once in the past and we went to a nudist beach, but we have never really socialized with anyone. We will be arriving on Dec 30th and returning home on Jan 7th 2018. I am curious to know if we are staying elsewhere, is there a way to still attend an evening at Temptations to scope it out and see how she reacts to it. Any suggestions would be appreciated, it woul be nice to befriend a couple while we are there. we are in our late 30s attractive and in good shape.

They do sell day passes, but you might as well book a room for the night for roughly the same price. This way you can experience the day and night atmosphere and have a room to go back to. Great way to see if this is the type of vacation you will want to book in the future (I'm sure it will). No matter your age or body type, it's a very carefree environment.

Honesty is key in these situations. Share that the night rate is the same as a day or night pass. Book the night but still have your reservation at your other place. Tell her that if once you are there either she or you feels uncomfortable either can pull the plug at any time and depart together. But who knows maybe it will be eye opening and you will want to stay later and maybe even for the night. No expectations, no requirements, take it one step at a time. Make things easy and not complicated. And be prepared for the possibility that this type of stuff just isn't for her. So if she does say 'I don't like this, I want to go' you will need to respect her wishes and be understanding. Once you are there you may have to push limits a little if this really is more about shyness than interest. Talk to people while getting a drink. Don't sit in one place. Move around. Dance a little. Enjoy a nice dinner there first maybe to ease into things. Or come in the afternoon first to sit by the pool and observe, wander to the bar. Talk to your neighbors in the chair or while getting a drink. But again... no expectations, either can call it and decide you should go back to your main hotel if it isn't working for them.
