Latest Trip Advisor reviews are terrible!

    Have you seen the latest TA reviews? They make the GP sound like it's falling apart, musty, moldy and overall not so nice. I'm starting to second guess my travel plans. Alleviate my worries you GP lovers!

    We were there in July and loved every minute of it! No complaints from us :) I haven't looked at the recent reviews but we thought it was very nice! Our room was nice, shower was wonderful, towels were soft (that was a big complaint I read with reviews), staff was absolutely fantastic, drinks were good, and food was good. Don't worry about your trip.... you will have a great time!

    Thanks for the reply! I know better than to believe a few negative reviews- when there are so many good ones. Especially by repeat visitors. Any other GP lovers want to chime in?

    Hi We just returned from our annual September trip to the GP. It was great as always. We were there in May and plan to go back the end of October.
    I did read the TA reviews and since you used the words moldy and musty I know the review you are speaking of. I met the couple that posted that review. They also posted a picture of themselves so I'm sure this is them.
    She passed out early on their 25th wedding anniversary but he came down to the Tiki bar. He had ripped his band off and couldn't understand why they wouldn't serve him. Security escorted him to the front desk to help him get another band. He returned only to cuss people who had sat where he had been sitting. He was a total jerk and was soon escorted to his room for the night.
    Those who can't handle their drink should maybe rethink their gluttony before going to an all inclusive. Do not give what these people say another thought just go have a great time.

    That is pretty funny. Sounds like he was bitter about being escorted to his room, and took out his anger in a bad review for the hotel. It's priceless that you knew exactly who he and his wife were! So, she passed out early huh?Thanks for the post.

    Thanks for the explanation!!! We're going to be there next week and were kinda concerned with the bad review. The reviewer did tend to get a bit "carried away" with ALL of the negative comments. Lets hope they have a 26 th anniversary !!!

    I read the negative reviews too and I have a difficult time believing them. Let's face it, some people are crazy and these people certainly are making a case for it. The good news is a$$holes like that won't be back and we'll all be happier because of it! My wife and I are looking forward to having a great time on our second trip to the Golden October 14-23.

    We there the week of 9/14-21. Our balcony door was missing a screw on the top corner and the weather stipping was missing. With all the rain and wind coming straight off the water our room floors were always wet. We had to use our towels. They fixed it in 3 days. Refrigerators did not keep drink cold, cool at the very best. Elevators were broke for a few days so we walked up and down 6 flights everyday. Even after they were fixed it was hit and miss.

    In the halls on the 6th floor plaster was falling from all of the rain leaking in. Food was cold and tasteless. We will never return for a second visit. Once was more than enough!

    The food is the second reason we keep going back. It is wonderful. Mouth watering good. The first reason is the people. Jose, Maru, Carlos, Fozzy, etc. We love them all.

    Here, Here!!!!!!! I always go on vacaction, look for missing screws, hate walking, stairs are out of the question, and want my refrig. juuuust right cause there is no ice at the hotel.

    I hear you man. Talk about exceedingly high expectations! You have to ask yourself: am I paying 5 star prices?

    4 days now, but who is counting?? My wife has been teaching since August 1 and needs a break.

    Any advice for GP first timers. We have been to TTR twice, but really missed walking on the beach. Are there many vendors on the beach in front of GP?? After 10+ trips to Jamaica, we have had enough of the vendors, hustlers, hagglers, etc.

    There are a few but few and far between. Mostly selling cigars and jewlery. Should not be a big problem.

    Were booked to go to GP tonite (Oct. 11), however we were informed yesterday that our Mini Schnauzer "Precious" has Acute Kidney failure. Our Vet encouraged us to go ahead with our trip, but one look at her with the IV tube running into her leg and we decided GP would have to wait !!

    She is not but 4 years old. Kidney Failure is kinda rare in Dogs that young. Won't know until Monday at the earliest !!! Why go on vacation if you're going to worry the whole time.

    Didn't realize that Expedia outsourced their insurance to a third party. Expedia billed it as cancell for "any reason", however the claim form I was emailed is asking for Documents from Doctors, etc. If its for "any reason", why do you have to provided anything??

    Delta did give us credit for our cancelled flights, however there is a $200 rebooking fee !!! Golden Parnassus did give us a refund for 5 nites. I suppose we can file a claim for the $400 Delta rebooking fee and the 1 hotel nite.

    Trying to set up something for Thanksgiving week. Cancun is still petty warm at that time. Not enough time before Christmas and the $$$ go thru the roof after Dec 25 !!!
