That blows goat balls!
I base all my travel plans on how to disregard US State Dep't travel advisories.
But sorry about people who actually are forced to respect them.
Real men laugh at the State Department (isn't that the Marine motto?) just kidding around. i'd still buy you a drink at the sexy pool bar.
I get it.....
......do what's right for you! No one that matters will judge.......
As someone said earlier - there are many bad areas in cities all over the world, including the US. However, the one thing I can say is that if I was in the US and there was some sort of incident where I was injured or had to deal with police, emergency services, etc., I would potentially feel "safer". I really don't ever want to be in a situation where I have to deal with those services outside the country.
Please, let's all keep politics off CCC that's part of the reason I frequent this site.. seems like the only place we can all chat and get to know each other without political views polluting all the fun love all these awesome TTR people..
And I will take you up on that offer. When are you there?
Seems our cruise ship is changing this post of call— plus they called and advised not to use any public ferries—- heading out this Saturday with 15 year olds for a spring break cruise— really felling sorry for the little guy - mom and pop type businesses that will loose the vacation dollars— ☹️☹️-
Is Chicago included? If not, I can say I'm a hell of a lot safer in Cancun than Chicago....
Politics is not on this site often. However, this specific thread is related to politics and personal views. This is not a travel ban for everyone, just a caution.
The only place we went in Chicago was the airport. And Dammm I could do a marathon, Really confusing and really big. We walk over one hour to visit it and we didn't even did 1/2 of it !
just checked out Amy's pics...Temptation was definitely the much better choice.
sorry we'll miss ya in April..we're going in June.
Yeah don’t f’ing piss on Philly again lol
And don’t compare us to other US cities like Chicago, Detroit and god forbid Toronto
That's harsh AM/Spence...... we'll keep you safe in the UK... but if you get blown up or the Russian's poison you, well at least the hospital treatments free !!. Come visit, we'll keep you safe..... LOL (Lots of luv xxxx) on the other hand a vacation in Somalia's probably not a good idea....
It is NOT fake news.
For those who say let's not bring politics to the forum. In this situation we have to acknowledge the fact that the US put out the statement it did. It is directly to do with a town no more than 40 miles from Cancun and affects many people's decisions on traveling to the region. If I were to delete all such references to the "warning" I'd only be accused of covering up things.
The political discussion, which although somewhat of a side issue, is relevant. Unlike Facebook groups I hope, at CCC with a more educated membership, we can discuss such things in a polite and civil manner.
It's not fake news that the US put out the warning to Govt employees, it happened. But it has been twisted by the media and not just US media, Canadian media too. And the motives are suspicious.
Let's separate the facts from the horribly misleading and sometimes completely false headlines in the media...
Fact: Canada did NOT issue a travel advisory or a travel ban to Cancun or Playa del Carmen (despite what the headlines lead you to believe) The US didn't either (unless you are a US government official)
Fact: The US consular office in Playa del Carmen (which consists of one person) is closed until further notice.
Fact: There was an explosion on a ferry that runs from Cozumel to Playa Del Carmen, a few weeks ago (different theories on why, I postulated the most common theories in an earlier post, and none are connected with harming US tourists).
Fact: That ferry company is no longer operating. This does not have anything to do with the alert, it just happens to be in the same article.
Fact: The US government (since they are the only ones who have made any alerts or changes) have NOT changed the Level of Security to the state of Quintana Roo, where Playa del Carmen is. It is still a level 2, the same as Bahamas, Belize, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, India, Italy, Jamaica, Turks and Caicos and the UK)
Fact: The advisory came one day after Trump’s son in law met Pena Nieto (President of Mexico) in Mexico City. They talked I am sure about the wall, tariffs and NAFTA. I am sure Mexico resisted and the next day the vaguest warning ever comes out for a city Pena Nieto just happens to visiting at the time.
Ultramar don't operate between Playa and Cozumel. Ultramar operate between Isla Mujeres and Cancun.
I have seen many people say all links have been deleted from the web, even official news sources have said that. I can assure you they have not, it's just that Mexican news does not write in English and the people searching for the stories search in English. When they find little to nothing they presume a cover up. The explosion happened more than two weeks ago and was all over the local news.
right or left....not knowing anything about a subject never stops the news media from telling us everything about it and then finding a way to virtue signal what they already believe or what enables them to create gossip or panic. That's why CNN, CBC, FoxNews, BBC etc etc are all fake news.
The latest from the US is that the warning had nothing to do with the ferry bomb. Your theory about the US visit is hitting home. The US consulate is re-oping in PDC on Monday. Talk about misleading!
