Marina Puerto Cancún

Marina Puerto Cancun combines an open-air shopping mall with restaurants overlooking the water. Come for familiar clothing brands, a meal beside the yachts or a movie, rather than a market-style souvenir hunt. It is an easy place to turn a shopping trip into an afternoon and evening out.

The mall sits within the larger Puerto Cancun development, between downtown and the northern end of the Hotel Zone. Around it are upmarket apartments, waterfront homes, hotels, canals and a golf course. You can visit the shopping centre without staying here, but that does not give you access to private residential facilities or beach clubs.

Num relance

  • Ideal para: clothes shopping, marina-side dining and a movie.
  • Onde: the downtown end of the Hotel Zone, around Boulevard Kukulcán km 1.5.
  • Shopping hours: generally 11am to 9pm daily; restaurant and cinema times differ.
  • Permitir: a couple of hours for browsing, longer if you are staying for dinner or a film.

Shopping at Marina Puerto Cancun

This is a modern mall with fixed-price shops, rather than rows of bargaining stalls. The mix ranges from everyday fashion to more expensive clothing, accessories, beauty products and homeware. You do not have to be shopping for designer labels to find something useful.

Clothing, shoes and sportswear

Recognisable names include Zara, H&M, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Pull&Bear, Sfera and Stradivarius. There are also swimwear and underwear shops, along with sports retailers such as Innovasport and Innvictus. It works well if you want a proper browse or need something to wear during your trip.

Do not assume that an international brand will be cheaper here than at home. Compare the actual peso price and the item you are buying. Sizes, stock and sale ranges can differ from those in your usual branch.

Beauty, accessories and homeware

The directory also includes Sephora, Ultrafemme, Pandora, Sunglass Hut, Zara Home and iShop. Beauty products, sunglasses and small accessories are easier to take home than a large homeware purchase. For electronics, check the model, warranty territory and compatibility before paying.

For crafts, inexpensive keepsakes and a more traditional shopping outing, compare the markets in our Guia de compras em Cancún. Marina Puerto Cancun is a different sort of visit, with the marina and restaurants as much a part of the appeal as the shops.

Marina Puerto Cancun restaurants

You can come here just to eat. There is enough choice for a planned dinner, a casual family meal or a drink and something small after shopping. Some restaurants have marina views; if that is the reason for your reservation, ask for a terrace or waterside table rather than assuming every seat has the same outlook.

Seafood by the marina

Gran Puerto Marina and Montemar are useful places to start if you have seafood in mind. Gran Puerto is on the upper level of the shopping centre. The name can cause confusion: this restaurant is not the Gran Puerto ferry terminal in Puerto Juárez.

Os nossos Seafood Restaurants in Cancun guide covers these marina choices alongside other places around the city. For a wider shortlist, including the Hotel Zone and downtown, see Melhores restaurantes em Cancún.

Italian, Japanese and a quick bite

Cenacolo is an option for pasta, while Hiromi gives you a Japanese choice. La Parrilla here is the Marina Puerto Cancun branch, so make sure a reservation or taxi destination refers to this location rather than the downtown restaurant.

You can also keep the outing simple with a coffee, ice cream or a casual bite. Starbucks, Café Antoinette, Santa Clara and Moyo are among the names in the mall directory. There is no need to book an elaborate dinner simply because you are visiting the marina.

Drinks, dinner and nightlife

The evening appeal is mainly restaurants, drinks and the waterfront setting. La Pizzarra is listed as a restaurant and bar with international cooking and cocktails, while other restaurants can work for a meal that continues into drinks.

For a particular DJ, live performance or late-night event, check the venue’s programme for your date. Opening hours and the atmosphere can change between lunch, dinner and a special event.

If you want the busy nightclub area and a full night of clubbing, compare A vida noturna de Cancún around Punta Cancun instead. Marina Puerto Cancun is a good choice when dinner and conversation are the main plan, without committing to a club night.

Cinépolis and visiting with children

Há um Cinépolis cinema on the upper level, with VIP screenings among its options. A movie gives you something to do besides shopping, and a useful indoor break on a hot or wet afternoon. Check the specific film and screening rather than assuming every showing is in English; the listing should indicate whether it is subtitled or dubbed.

A family visit can be as straightforward as a film, a look at the boats and something to eat. Choose activities for your children’s ages and leave time to get between them. The marina edge is a waterfront, so keep younger children close when walking beside the water.

The shops and cinema provide indoor stops, but the centre is open-air. It is not an entirely covered rainy-day destination. For more family ideas, see Cancún com crianças.

Getting to Marina Puerto Cancun

Marina Puerto Cancun is at the city end of the Hotel Zone, close to where Boulevard Kukulcán meets downtown. That makes it convenient from northern Hotel Zone hotels and central Cancun. From hotels farther along the strip, allow for traffic rather than judging the journey from the distance alone.

Taxi, app pickup and buses

Give the full destination as Marina Puerto Cancun shopping centre. Puerto Cancun is a sizeable development, and a residential tower, golf entrance or marina berth may not put you where you want to be. The mall identifies its main app pickup entrance on Avenida Puerto Cancun.

Hotel Zone buses can be useful for reaching this end of Boulevard Kukulcán. Ask the driver for the stop for Marina Puerto Cancun before boarding, then allow for the walk from the road to the shops. Do not assume the bus will enter the development or stop at a restaurant door.

For a taxi, agree on the fare before setting off. If you use an app, select the shopping centre’s entrance and check the pickup point for the return journey, particularly when you are leaving with bags or after dinner.

Dirigir e estacionar

The mall has parking. Keep your ticket, check the current tariff and ask your shop or restaurant whether it offers validation. The mall’s visitor information currently lists parking service hours of 9am to 10pm; if you plan to stay later for dinner or a film, confirm the applicable exit arrangements when you arrive.

Marina Puerto Cancun location

Golf and the wider Puerto Cancun neighbourhood

The shopping centre is only one part of Puerto Cancun. The surrounding development includes upmarket residential towers, canal-side homes, hotels and marina facilities. Those buildings are part of the setting, but a shopping visit should not be treated as permission to enter private docks, residential pools or residents’ beach facilities.

Puerto Cancun Golf Club has an 18-hole, par-72 course designed by Tom Weiskopf, with canals, mangroves and coastal views forming part of the layout. Golf is a separate outing from visiting the mall. Arrange a tee time and use the correct golf entrance; compare the practical details in our Cancun Golf Courses guide.

For most visitors, the simplest way to enjoy the area is to combine the public shops and restaurants with a walk beside the marina. You can appreciate the boats and surroundings without booking an activity or turning it into a property-viewing trip.

When to go and how to plan your visit

General shopping hours are 11am to 9pm daily. Restaurants, cafés and cinema screenings have their own times. An early restaurant opening or late dinner booking does not mean every shop will be open at the same time.

Late afternoon works well if you want to browse before dinner and see the waterfront in daylight. Arriving earlier makes sense if shopping or a particular film is your main reason for going. Take the weather into account because walking between the indoor stops still means time outside.

  • A short visit: choose the shops you want to see, stop for coffee and take a look at the marina.
  • An afternoon and evening: browse first, then stay for a restaurant meal.
  • A family outing: choose a film, allow time for food and add some shopping if everyone is still interested.

Marina Puerto Cancun is worth considering even if shopping is not normally your idea of a day out. The restaurant choice and cinema give the visit a purpose beyond buying things.
