Cancun Alquiler de motos de agua

Cancun jet ski rentals range from a quick half-hour ride on the lagoon to guided trips through the mangroves and out towards the reef. If you simply want a go on a jet ski, a short rental is the obvious starting point. For more time on the water, choose a guided ride with a route and a longer activity time.

The three options below offer different experiences, rather than three versions of the same rental. All depart from Hotel Zone marinas and require you to arrange your own transport. Check the exact meeting point, how many people share each jet ski and the extra fees before choosing.

De un vistazo

Short rental: 30 minutes on the lagoon, with up to two people sharing one jet ski.
Paseos más largos: a guided one-hour mangrove tour or a two-hour jet ski and snorkeling trip.
Recogida: hotel transport is not included in the featured options.
Tarifas adicionales: budget for a US$20 fee per person, paid separately.
Precios: some bookings are per jet ski and others per person. Two people sharing does not always mean buying one ticket.

Alquiler de motos acuáticas en Cancun

This is the straightforward choice for a short ride. After an introduction, you ride within the designated lagoon area rather than following a long sightseeing route. The reservation covers one jet ski for up to two people, but only one person drives during the booking. Drivers must be at least 18, and the listing requires valid ID or a passport as a deposit.

Meet at Yachtlife Mexico Marina, opposite the Sisal restaurant at km 13.5. Life jackets and instruction are included; transport and the US$20 government fee per person are extra. Phones and cameras are not allowed during the activity, and souvenir photos cost extra.

Cancun Jetski and Snorkel Adventure

This tour follows a guide through the lagoon and mangroves towards the sea, with snorkeling at El Meco reef when conditions allow. The advertised two hours includes the snorkeling stop, so it is not two hours of uninterrupted riding. Life jackets, snorkeling equipment and a locker are included.

Tickets are priced per person. Choose the individual jet ski option if you want a craft to yourself; a solo customer on the shared option may ride with another traveler or the guide. Meet at Marina del Rey, km 15.6, opposite Grand Oasis Cancun, 30 minutes before departure. The US$20 dock fee per person is payable in cash, and hotel transport is not included.

Cancun mangrove jet ski tour: 1 rider per jet ski

This is a one-hour guided ride with one person on each jet ski. It is a better fit if you want to do all the driving, follow a mangrove route and skip the snorkeling stop. Fuel, a life jacket and bilingual staff are included.

The meeting point is in the Fred’s restaurant parking area at km 14.6, opposite the JW Marriott. Allow for the separate US$20 cash dock fee. Hotel transport, photos and damage insurance are excluded, so ask about the damage policy before committing. Electronics are not allowed during the ride.

Jet ski rental or a guided tour?

A short rental suits someone who wants to try a jet ski without giving up much of the day. You still receive instructions and must stay within the permitted riding area. Renting a craft does not give you unrestricted access to the entire lagoon or the right to head out to sea.

A guided tour is more about the journey. You follow the route and pace set by the guide, with narrow channels and other boats to think about as well as open water. Choose it because you want to see more, rather than expecting an hour of racing around wherever you like.

Jet ski prices, sharing and extra fees

Compare the total for your party, not just the first price on the screen. A per-jet-ski rental for two can look more expensive than a per-person tour until you add the second ticket. Equally, a longer ride on your own craft is a different purchase from sharing a short session.

For the featured rental, two people sharing one jet ski pay one rental price but two US$20 fees, adding US$40 to the booking total. The snorkeling trip is sold per person, so two people sharing need two tickets as well as their individual dock fees. The one-rider tour has one fee for its one rider.

Check whether damage cover is included, optional or excluded, and what happens if the craft is damaged. A photo package is another possible extra. The cards show current booking prices; the final selection screen is where to check your date, party size and chosen sharing arrangement.

Marinas and getting there

These departures are all in the Hotel Zone, but they are not the same marina. Do not ask a driver for “the jet ski place” and assume you will arrive at the right one. Use the business name and kilometer marker on your confirmation, and check which side of Boulevard Kukulcan you need.

Allow time for traffic, check-in and the briefing. If you take a Hotel Zone bus, you still need to find the marina entrance and walk in from the road. Keep your return journey in mind too, especially if you will be wet and carrying towels.

Lagoon, mangroves or open sea?

El Nichupté Lagoon side has a different feel from the Caribbean beach side. You have mangroves, channels and views back towards the hotels. Open stretches can still be windy and choppy, so lagoon does not automatically mean flat water.

A trip that continues out to the reef depends on sea conditions as well as conditions in the lagoon. If snorkeling is the main reason you are booking, consider whether a dedicated Cancun tour de snorkel would suit you better. Ask what happens to the itinerary if the sea portion cannot operate.

Follow the guide through the mangroves, keep clear of wildlife and other boats, and avoid swimmers and marked restricted areas. This is a shared waterway, not a private race course.

Otra Cancun actividades acuáticas

A Cancun jungle tour often means a small steering-wheel speedboat, rather than a jet ski. Our Cancun Gira Por La Selva Tropical information explains that alternative if you would prefer to sit side by side in a boat.

For a shorter activity with a completely different view, compare Cancun parasailingTambién puedes navegar Cancun Deportes acuáticos for more time on the water, or Cancun Tours para otras salidas.

Antes de ir

Wear swimwear, bring a towel and take only what you can leave securely ashore. Check the confirmation for ID requirements and cash fees. Do not assume you can take your phone on the jet ski; two of the featured listings specifically prohibit electronics during the activity.

Age, passenger and weight limits vary between trips. The short rental requires an adult driver, but that is not a blanket rule for every product. Check the exact option before booking for a teenager or a child, and confirm the combined weight limit when sharing.

You do not need to arrive as an experienced rider, but you do need to understand the briefing, feel comfortable on the water and follow instructions. Ask staff to explain the controls, stopping distance and safety lanyard before leaving. If you have a health condition that could make a fast or bumpy ride unsuitable, get advice before booking. Save the drinks for afterwards.
