Cancun Golf Courses
Cancun golf courses range from convenient Hotel Zone rounds to coastal championship layouts north of town and jungle courses towards the Riviera Maya. Where you stay makes a real difference: a course beside your resort can be a much better holiday choice than a famous name across the city. Start with the journey, the kind of round you want and the full cost with clubs and transport.

For a straightforward round from the Hotel Zone, consider Iberostar Cancún or Puerto Cancún. Playa Mujeres is the natural starting point for golfers staying around Costa Mujeres. South of Cancun, Riviera Cancun, Moon Palace and El Tinto offer different layouts without going all the way to Playa del Carmen.
Below you can compare the main choices, including one Riviera Maya course worth considering if you are staying farther south. There are also two bookable 18-hole packages with rental clubs and eligible hotel pickup, useful if you have travelled without your own equipment.
At a glance
Allow: roughly four to five hours for 18 holes, plus travel, check-in and a warm-up.
Best starting point: a course close to your hotel, then compare the layout and total price.
Visitor access: available at several courses; reserve an actual tee time rather than relying on hotel or club membership assumptions.
Main costs: green fee, shared cart, rental clubs, playing balls and transport.
Check before paying: the number of holes, hotel pickup coverage, rental set and any resort golf conditions.
Cancun golf packages with hotel pickup
These are golf rounds, with a reserved tee time and rental clubs. Prices are per player. Both include hotel transport for covered accommodation; check your exact hotel in the pickup choices. If it is not listed, get written confirmation that its transfer is included before paying. Do not assume a Cancun pickup also covers Playa del Carmen or Tulum.
| Package | Round and price basis | Equipment and refreshments | Transport |
|---|---|---|---|
| Riviera Cancun Golf: 18 Holes with Golf Clubs Included | 18 holes; about four hours playing; per person | Golf clubs, shared cart, lunch and drinks | Eligible hotel pickup; check the hotel list and confirmed transfer arrangements |
| Puerto Cancun Golf Course – 18 Holes of Golf | 18 holes; about four hours playing; per person | Rental golf clubs; food and drinks cost extra | Eligible Cancun hotel pickup; compare regular and twilight options |
Riviera Cancun Golf: 18 Holes with Golf Clubs Included
Choose this package for the Jack Nicklaus course south of the main Hotel Zone. The 18-hole round includes rental clubs, a cart, lunch and drinks. It is a useful option if you want the main golfing costs together rather than arranging clubs separately.
The advertised four hours describe the golf activity. Leave additional time for the return hotel journey, check-in and warming up. The booking includes pickup at covered hotels; an unlisted hotel needs its own transfer confirmation.
Puerto Cancun Golf Course – 18 Holes of Golf
This package plays Puerto Cancún, between downtown and the northern end of the Hotel Zone. It includes 18 holes, rental clubs and transport from eligible Cancun hotels. Food and drinks are extra, so it is a different cost comparison from the Riviera Cancun package.
Compare the regular and twilight choices for your date. A cheaper late tee time leaves less daylight to finish 18 holes. The package lists around four hours for the activity, so allow more time for the complete outing. Check the cart inclusion on the selected option as well as the clubs.
Compare Cancun golf courses
| Course | Area | Layout | Why consider it? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Iberostar Cancún Golf Club | Hotel Zone, beside Iberostar Selection Cancún | 18 holes, par 72 | Convenience from Hotel Zone hotels; broad fairways with lagoon water hazards |
| Puerto Cancún Golf Club | Between downtown and the north end of the Hotel Zone | 18 holes, par 72 | A city-side round with canals, mangroves and coastal views |
| Playa Mujeres Golf Club | Punta Sam / Playa Mujeres, north of Cancun | 18-hole championship course, par 72 | A logical choice from Costa Mujeres; coastal and lagoon scenery |
| Riviera Cancun Golf & Resorts | South end of the Hotel Zone, near the airport area | 18 holes, par 72 | A Nicklaus layout with mangroves, bunkers and coastal views |
| Moon Palace Golf Club Cancun | Moon Palace resort, south of the airport | 27 holes in three nine-hole loops | Combining two nines for an 18-hole round; handy for Moon Palace guests |
| El Tinto, Cancun Country Club | Inland, off the highway south of the airport | 18 holes, par 72 | A long Nick Price layout; useful for the southern Cancun resort area |
| Iberostar Playa Paraíso Golf Club | Riviera Maya, between Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen | 18 holes, par 72 | A championship option if staying south; a longer outing from Cancun |
Iberostar Cancún Golf Club
This is the Isao Aoki course beside Iberostar Selection Cancún and Iberostar Selection Coral Cancún. The golf club itself is still named Iberostar Cancún Golf Club. It is a practical starting point for Hotel Zone golfers, with broad fairways and lagoon inlets that bring water into play.
You do not need to choose a Riviera Maya course simply because you are staying at an Iberostar hotel in Cancun. Playa Paraíso is a separate course farther south. Guest and public rates are different, and a room booking alone does not mean that golf or rental clubs are included.
Puerto Cancún Golf Club
The Tom Weiskopf design sits where downtown meets the Hotel Zone, among canals and mangroves with the Caribbean nearby. Five sets of tees help different abilities find a sensible playing length. It is especially worth comparing if you are staying at the northern end of the Hotel Zone or in downtown Cancun.
You can book the visitor package above without being a club member. Keep the 18-hole round separate from the Toptracer driving-range experiences also offered at Puerto Cancún; an hour in a hitting bay is a different activity.
Playa Mujeres Golf Club
Playa Mujeres has an 18-hole Greg Norman championship course among mangroves, dunes and coastal scenery. Both hotel guests and outside visitors can play with a reservation. It is on the mainland in the Punta Sam and Costa Mujeres area, so there is no ferry journey to Isla Mujeres.
The published green-fee inclusions cover a cart, practice balls, water and tees. Club rental is available at the pro shop. Meals and rental clubs should be checked separately. The club also advertises a short course; confirm which layout your reservation actually covers.

Riviera Cancun Golf & Resorts
Riviera Cancun is the separate 18-hole Jack Nicklaus layout near the southern end of the Hotel Zone. Mangroves, water and bunkers make placement important. It suits golfers who want a scenic round with some strategy rather than simply trying to hit every shot as far as possible.
It is not the Moon Palace course, even though the two are associated with the same resort group. Check the course name on the reservation and transport details. The featured package includes clubs, while other green-fee arrangements may price them separately.
Moon Palace Golf Club Cancun
Moon Palace has 27 Jack Nicklaus-designed holes divided into the Dunes, Jungle and Lakes nines. An ordinary 18-hole round combines two of these loops; a 27-hole facility does not mean that every green fee buys all 27 holes.
It is particularly convenient for Moon Palace guests. Equipment rental, practice facilities and lessons are available. If you are staying elsewhere, confirm visitor access and the tee time offered to non-guests before arranging transport through the resort entrance. Resort golf packages have their own eligibility and inclusions.
El Tinto at Cancun Country Club
El Tinto is the current course name within Cancun Country Club. The 18-hole Nick Price design stretches to 7,435 yards from the longest tees, although you should choose a tee suited to your game. This is an inland option rather than an oceanfront round.
The club offers general green fees as well as owner rates, so the residential setting does not make it an owners-only course. Cart and bottled water are listed with the green fee; equipment rental and transport are additional services. It is worth comparing from resorts south of the airport.
Iberostar Playa Paraíso Golf Club
Playa Paraíso is the P.B. Dye course in the Riviera Maya, distinct from Iberostar Cancún in the Hotel Zone. Its championship layout has several tees, and the published round time is about four and a half hours. It makes most sense if you are staying towards Puerto Morelos or Playa del Carmen, or specifically want to play this course.
The green fee includes a buggy, snacks and drinks. Local resort transfers do not necessarily cover Cancun Hotel Zone hotels; confirm your hotel before booking. Compare the journey and your visitor green fee before making it a golfing day from Cancun.
Which course suits your game?
For a casual holiday round, convenience and the right tees matter more than the longest yardage. Iberostar Cancún offers a useful Hotel Zone starting point, while Puerto Cancún has five tee positions. Neither is free of water or other hazards, but you can avoid turning a relaxed round into an endurance test by choosing an appropriate playing length.
For golfers who enjoy a more strategic round, compare Riviera Cancun, Playa Mujeres and El Tinto. Think about how confidently you carry water, play from sand and keep the ball in play. A championship label does not tell you whether the forward tees will suit your particular game.
If you are completely new to golf, a lesson or practice session is a better introduction than booking straight into a busy 18-hole tee sheet. Moon Palace has an academy, and Puerto Cancún offers lessons and its Toptracer range. Check any handicap or pace-of-play requirement for the actual round you choose.
Green fees, twilight rates and resort golf
Compare the total per player, not just the green fee. A useful like-for-like check is 18 holes, the cart, rental set, playing balls, transport, food, drinks and taxes. Practice balls for the range are different from balls you can take onto the course. A cart charge may be per player or per shared cart, so read the unit before multiplying it for your group.
Morning, twilight, hotel-guest and public rates can differ substantially. Twilight can save money, but a late start may leave too little daylight for a full round. Check the start time and the number of holes sold; do not assume every discounted afternoon rate is for 18 holes.
Golf included with a resort stay also needs a closer look. Green fees can be included while a mandatory cart remains chargeable. Rental clubs, transport or the preferred morning tee time may add more. Check the exact hotel, room category, minimum stay and package conditions rather than treating all-inclusive accommodation as all-inclusive golf.
Rental clubs, carts and equipment

Renting clubs is convenient for one holiday round. If you plan several rounds, compare the full rental cost against bringing your own bag. Check right- or left-handed availability, shaft preference, set contents and whether a set is supplied for each player. If you prefer a particular brand or model, confirm availability when reserving.
The two featured packages explicitly include rental clubs. Elsewhere, a green fee and cart do not automatically include them. Playa Mujeres and Moon Palace advertise equipment rental, and El Tinto lists equipment and shoe rental as additional services. Reserve the equipment with the round so you arrive ready to play.
Journey times and Cancun hotel pickup
The Hotel Zone is a long strip, so one journey time cannot describe every hotel. Iberostar Cancún is within the zone; Puerto Cancún sits at its northern entrance. Playa Mujeres is north of downtown, while Riviera Cancun, Moon Palace and El Tinto are in different locations around or south of the airport. Check the route from your actual hotel, not from a generic Cancun map pin.
As a planning allowance, leave roughly half an hour to an hour each way when crossing between the Hotel Zone and a course outside your immediate area, with more time at busy periods. A Cancun-to-Playa Paraíso round can mean around an hour or more each way. These are broad travel allowances, not quoted transfer times; the exact hotel, traffic and course entrance matter.
Hotel pickup is useful only when your hotel and chosen departure are covered. For the two featured packages, choose the hotel from the pickup list and check the confirmed time. An unlisted hotel requires confirmation that its transfer is included. A solo player, a non-playing companion or accommodation farther down the Riviera Maya may have different arrangements.
Tee times, weather and course conditions
An early round gives you more daylight and usually a cooler start. Allow time to check in, collect clubs and warm up before the tee time. In the hotter months, the time spent between shots and moving around the course still adds up, even with a cart.
Check the forecast, course maintenance notices and any restrictions affecting the nines you want to play. Aeration or maintenance can change the experience without closing the whole facility. If the round is a holiday priority, playing earlier in your stay leaves more room to rearrange around unsuitable weather.
For other days out, browse Cancun tours or our things to do in Cancun. Golf can fit comfortably into a beach holiday, but leave enough time to enjoy the round rather than rushing straight to another reservation.
Before you play
Pack a collared golf shirt, suitable golf shorts or trousers and appropriate golf shoes. Playa Mujeres explicitly requires soft spikes and excludes denim and sleeveless shirts; check the selected club’s dress rules before arriving. Bring sun protection, a hat and enough playing balls, and keep water with you throughout the round.
Take your reservation details and follow the club’s pace-of-play and course instructions. Keep away from wildlife and the edges of water hazards rather than retrieving a lost ball. Confirm the return transport time before heading to the first tee.
