Xoximilco Cancun

Xoximilco Cancun is an evening of Mexican music, food and tequila aboard a colourful trajinera boat. Now also called Xoxi, this Grupo Xcaret experience swaps the beach and nightclub for a floating party, with a host, live musicians and other guests sharing your table.

The appeal is the atmosphere: singing, games, Mexican flavours and a lively night on the canals. It suits people who enjoy joining in, rather than sitting quietly through a formal dinner show. The transport-inclusive option below includes shared pickup and return from eligible Cancun hotels or a nearby meeting point.

What is Xoximilco Cancun?

Xoximilco is Grupo Xcaret’s Mexican fiesta attraction south of Cancun, near the airport. The name and decorated boats take inspiration from Xochimilco in Mexico City, but this is a separate Cancun experience. You are booking an organised evening on purpose-built canals, not a trip to Mexico City or an archaeological site.

A trajinera is a flat-bottomed boat with a long table and benches. You share it with other visitors, with up to 20 passengers aboard. A host keeps the evening moving with jokes, games and songs, while different musical groups provide the soundtrack. Mariachi is part of the night, alongside other regional Mexican music.

Food, drinks and entertainment

The evening includes a Mexican tasting menu, live music and an open bar with tequila, beer and non-alcoholic drinks. Think of it as trying several Mexican flavours around a shared table, rather than choosing a restaurant main course or working your way around a buffet.

The party and music are as much a part of the experience as the food. If you mainly want a long, quiet meal with your partner, choose a different night out. If you like meeting people and having a laugh over dinner, the shared setting is the attraction.

Vegetarian and children’s options are available; enter dietary requirements when booking. If a food allergy or other restriction determines whether you can attend, review the meal arrangements before paying. Souvenir photographs, souvenirs and tips are outside the included package.

Cancun pickup and transport

The tour above includes shared transport from selected Cancun hotels or the nearest available point on the route. It is not a private transfer, and pickup is not automatically at every hotel entrance. Enter your actual accommodation when booking and check the assigned meeting point.

Follow the booking instructions to confirm your pickup time and place at least 24 hours before the visit, then be there 10 minutes early. Keep your booking voucher and photo ID ready for the bus. The evening start time shown for the attraction is not your hotel pickup time.

Admission-only tickets also exist, but you must arrange both journeys yourself. If you plan to enjoy the open bar, choose the transport-inclusive option or arrange a driver for the return. The park is outside the Hotel Zone, so do not assume you can walk back to your hotel afterwards.

Who will enjoy Xoximilco?

Friends and couples looking for a sociable evening are the clearest fit. Solo travellers can also enjoy the shared table and host-led activities. You do not need to arrive with a boatful of friends, speak fluent Spanish or drink alcohol to take part; the tour offers English and Spanish, with non-alcoholic drinks included.

Children must be at least five and accompanied by an adult. It is a late, lively evening with music, group games and alcohol around the table, so think about whether your children would enjoy that setting and the journey home. It is not an adults-only nightclub, but it is not a quiet children’s boat ride either.

The tour lists adapted trajineras and wheelchair-accessible transport. Review the access arrangements for your particular chair and boarding needs before booking, rather than treating that label as a description of every part of the journey.

How long does it take?

Allow roughly three hours for the experience, with extra time for check-in and the shared bus. The transport-inclusive outing is listed at about five hours overall; your actual pickup and return depend on where you stay and the route. Keep the whole evening free.

Check the calendar for the date you want, since operating days can vary by season. Avoid combining it with a day trip that returns close to pickup time. A relaxed beach or pool day leaves you more room to get ready without watching the clock.

What to wear and bring

Wear comfortable, casual clothes and shoes you can walk and board a boat in. Light trousers are useful in the evening, and eco-friendly insect repellent is recommended. This is an outdoor canal setting, so dress for a warm Cancun night rather than an air-conditioned restaurant.

Bring your voucher, required photo ID and a phone or camera for the illuminated boats. Keep belongings manageable around the shared table, and allow for optional photographs, souvenirs or tips if you want them. Swimwear and snorkelling equipment are not needed.

Xoximilco tours from Cancun

Choose your date, enter the correct ages and check that your Cancun accommodation is covered by the pickup route. Compare the total for your group, including transport, and read the selected ticket’s written terms. For the simplest evening from Cancun, the shared-transport tour keeps the outward and return journeys together.

Choose Xoximilco for the Mexican boat fiesta. For zip-lines, caves and an active evening, look at Xplor Fuego. For a fuller park day with swimming, wildlife and a seated cultural show, read about Xcaret. They offer quite different nights, even though all belong to Grupo Xcaret.
