Indian Restaurants in Cancun
A curry beside the lagoon and a straightforward Indian meal on the city side are different evenings out in Cancun. Start with the setting you want, then compare the food. ElefanThai and Bombay offer Hotel Zone dining, while Patravali and Taste of India give you alternatives on Avenida Bonampak.

The four restaurants below cover Indian and Thai menus, a supper-club evening, a sit-down curry meal and takeaway. There are also Indian restaurants inside some all-inclusive resorts. Check guest access before planning a meal at one of those.
At a glance
- Lagoon setting and a mixed menu: ElefanThai at La Isla combines Indian and Thai cooking.
- Dinner as a night out: Bombay at Km 14.7 has a supper-club and shisha-lounge format.
- City-side Indian food: compare Patravali and Taste of India on Avenida Bonampak.
- Already staying all-inclusive: check your resort’s Indian dining before planning a separate journey.
Compare the Indian restaurants
Choose between a restaurant where the surroundings are part of the occasion and a meal centred on the dishes you want. These are different parts of Cancun, so the journey can be as important as the menu.

| Patravali Indian Cuisine | City-side sit-down restaurant; chicken tikka masala, naan and other Indian dishes | Plaza Kun, Avenida Bonampak |

Indian food in Cancun’s Hotel Zone
ElefanThai at La Isla
ElefanThai combines Indian and Thai cooking at La Isla Shopping Village, with a view across the lagoon. It is worth comparing when the table wants Indian food but someone would rather have a Thai dish. The current name is ElefanThai, although you may still encounter the older Elefanta name when researching the restaurant.
The Indian menu includes chicken tikka cooked in the tandoor, dal makhani, paneer makhani and paneer dumplings in a creamy sauce. This gives you a choice between grilled dishes and a curry meal with bread, rather than treating every Indian dish as the same kind of order. The lagoon setting makes it an option for a slower dinner as well as a food stop during a La Isla outing.
Bombay Cancun
Bombay is in the Hotel Zone at Km 14.7 and presents itself as an Indian restaurant with a supper-club and shisha-lounge setting. It makes sense for a longer evening with drinks as well as dinner. Music and the lounge atmosphere are part of the choice, so compare it with a quieter sit-down meal if conversation is the priority.
If you are travelling with children or want to avoid the shisha area, ask about the seating arrangements before reserving.
Indian food on Avenida Bonampak
Bonampak is on the city side of Cancun. These restaurants offer an alternative to dining along the beach strip, but the avenue name alone is not enough for directions: use the restaurant and plaza or local number.
Patravali Indian Cuisine
Patravali is at Plaza Kun on Avenida Bonampak, with Indian dishes such as chicken tikka masala and naan on its menu. It is a city-side sit-down option when you want Indian food without the Hotel Zone lounge setting.
Its own dish recommendations include paneer tikka, grilled Afghani chicken and laal maas, a chilli-spiced lamb dish. That makes it worth considering if your table wants to compare a grilled starter, a familiar curry and something with more heat. Paneer is Indian fresh cheese, so it gives vegetarians a different main-course choice from a vegetable side dish.
Taste of India Cancun
Taste of India’s Bonampak restaurant offers dishes such as dal, paneer and chicken tikka masala, along with takeaway and delivery options. It’s the only Indian restaurant I know in Cancun that does onion bhajis. My favourite! They aren’t on the menu, but if you ask, they’ll make them. It is a more practical choice when the food matters more than a show or a view.
The menu includes lentil and paneer dishes as well as chicken, so a mixed table can build a meal around several curries rather than ordering the same thing. For takeaway or delivery, confirm the current collection point and delivery area directly; a city-side address does not mean every beach resort is covered.
What to order and how to build a meal
Think about the whole order, not just one curry. A couple of starters, two different main dishes and bread or rice can give a table more variety than choosing several rich dishes with similar sauces.
- Samosas: filled savoury pastries, useful as a starter. Taste of India’s vegetable version is described with potato and peas.
- Tandoor dishes: compare these with a sauced curry when you want a grilled preparation. ElefanThai lists chicken marinated with spices and yoghurt, then cooked in the tandoor.
- Dal: a lentil dish. Taste of India and ElefanThai list dal makhani, giving you an alternative to a meat curry.
- Paneer: fresh cheese used in dishes such as paneer makhani or grilled paneer tikka.
- Bread and rice: establish what comes with the main dish and what is ordered separately before comparing the total.

Tell the server how much chilli heat you enjoy instead of relying on a dish name alone. If you are sharing, decide whether you want contrasting flavours or one mild order for the whole table. Look at the full bill for drinks, accompaniments and any service charge before adding a tip; our Tipping in Cancun advice explains the practicalities.
Vegetarian and vegan Indian food
Paneer, lentils and vegetable dishes give you useful vegetarian choices, but vegetarian does not automatically mean vegan. Paneer is cheese, and creamy sauces or breads may contain dairy. ElefanThai specifically marks selected vegetable dishes as available vegan; request that preparation when ordering rather than assuming the standard version is dairy-free.
For a vegan meal, ask about the sauce, cooking fat and bread as well as the main ingredient. If you need halal food or have an allergy, confirm the exact requirement with the restaurant; the cuisine name or a vegetarian symbol does not establish how every dish is prepared.
Indian food at all-inclusive resorts
If Indian food is important when choosing an all-inclusive stay, look for a named restaurant and its access arrangements rather than assuming an international buffet will cover it. These examples are resort dining, separate from the four public restaurant choices above.
Sutra at Planet Hollywood Cancun
Planet Hollywood Cancun lists Sutra Indian Restaurant & Hookah Lounge as an à la carte Indian restaurant. The resort is in Costa Mujeres, north of Cancun’s main Hotel Zone. It is relevant if you are staying there or comparing resorts, rather than as an assumed walk-in dinner from a hotel on Boulevard Kukulcán.
Taj at Royalton Riviera Cancun
Royalton Riviera Cancun lists Taj for Indian cuisine, including butter chicken and vegetable biryani. This is in the Riviera Cancun resort area south of the city, not the Hotel Zone. Confirm dining access, reservation arrangements and your particular resort’s inclusions before treating it as an option for a meal out.
A restaurant reservation and permission to enter an all-inclusive resort are different things. If you are not a resident guest, ask the resort directly about visitor access before arranging transport. For the wider choice of where to stay, see Cancun Hotels.
Location and practical planning
ElefanThai at La Isla and Bombay at Km 14.7 are separate Hotel Zone stops. Patravali and Taste of India are on Bonampak on the city side. From a beach resort, choose the restaurant first and plan the journey back at the same time; for a taxi, use the exact name and address and agree the fare before setting off.
Hotel Zone Restaurants compares the strip by area, while Downtown Cancun Restaurants explains the central streets and wider city-side choices. Getting Around Cancun covers buses and taxis.
Before a special journey, confirm the current menu, opening times and any reservation or seating requirements. For more cuisines and kinds of evening, compare Best Restaurants in Cancun or the Food & Drink overview.
