Grupo Anderson’s Restaurants in Cancun

Harry’s, Porfirio’s, Ilios and Señor Frog’s might look like very different nights out, but they belong to the same restaurant group. Grupo Anderson’s runs everything from steak and seafood restaurants to Mexican celebrations, Greek dining and party bars in Cancun.

The useful choice is between the restaurants themselves. Start with what you want to eat, then consider the setting and how much of the evening you want to spend talking, watching entertainment or joining the party.

Lagoon-side dinner choices in the Hotel Zone

Porfirio’s: Mexican food with a celebration atmosphere

Porfirio’s is the choice for a Mexican meal that feels like an evening out. The menu brings together Mexican dishes, antojitos, tacos and substantial meat dishes, with tequila, mezcal and cocktails alongside them. It has views over Nichupte Lagoon at Km 14.2.

Choose it for a birthday, a group dinner or a lively Mexican evening. Mariachi is part of its advertised entertainment. Check the current programme for your visit. Our Porfirio’s Cancun guide looks more closely at the food and atmosphere.

Harry’s: steakhouse and raw bar

Harry’s Cancun makes sense when the main event is a steak dinner. Its Cancun restaurant pairs premium beef with seafood and a raw bar, in a lagoon-facing setting at Km 14.2.

It is a useful starting point for an anniversary or a dressed-up dinner where the food and table setting matter more than joining an interactive show. Compare the actual cut, portion and sides before ordering: a steakhouse bill depends heavily on what you choose. Harry’s also advertises a piano-bar programme, so consider the seating area and entertainment when arranging a quieter meal.

Fred’s: seafood beside the lagoon

Fred’s Cancun is the seafood-led alternative at Km 14.5. Its terrace and waterside villas face Nichupte Lagoon, giving you a different setting from a beach restaurant looking out over the Caribbean.

If your group is choosing between steak and seafood, start by comparing Harry’s and Fred’s menus. For a meal built around fish, shellfish and a lagoon-side table, Fred’s is the more direct fit. Seating matters here: check which area your reservation covers if the water view is a main reason for going.

Ilios: Greek food and an energetic evening

Ilios Cancun combines Greek cooking with a theatrical dining room and a performance-led evening. It sits on the lagoon side of the Hotel Zone at Km 13.5.

Pick Ilios when you want dinner to be part of a celebration and entertainment is an attraction in its own right. The Cancun location advertises a Greek performance, with days to be checked. A couple looking for uninterrupted conversation should consider the programme and table position before choosing it for a romantic meal.

Nicoletta: Italian dining above Ilios

Nicoletta Cancun is on the second floor at Km 13.5, above Ilios, with views towards the lagoon. Its Italian menu gives you a different food choice at the same address.

It is worth comparing for a date, family celebration or an occasion where Italian food is the easiest way to keep everyone happy. The Cancun branch advertises a children’s club. Check its current ages and arrangements if that facility is part of your dinner plan.

Puerto Cancun and downtown alternatives

Bodega Argentina at Marina Puerto Cancun

Bodega Argentina brings an Argentine grill to Marina Puerto Cancun. Think empanadas, grilled beef and wine, with the marina as the setting.

This is a useful alternative if you are already spending time around Puerto Cancun or want to combine dinner with a visit to the marina shops. It is a different journey from the restaurants around Km 13.5 to 14.5. The restaurant also advertises a children’s club, making it worth considering for a family meal as well as a dinner for two.

La Vicenta at Plaza Azuna

La Vicenta is a charcoal-grill restaurant with a more casual, social emphasis. Its Cancun branch is at Plaza Azuna on the city side, rather than beside the lagoon restaurants farther down the Hotel Zone.

It suits a meal with friends, a family gathering or a grill-and-drinks evening without making the occasion revolve around fine dining. The branch advertises a children’s club, parking in the shopping plaza and screens. Compare it with Bodega Argentina for the food and setting you prefer, rather than assuming either city-side option is automatically a cheap meal.

Señor Frog’s and H Roof: two different party plans

Señor Frog’s combines food, drinks and interactive entertainment in the Punta Cancun nightlife area. Its restaurant-bar format is the point: go because your group enjoys participation, music and a party atmosphere. A long, quiet dinner is a different sort of evening.

H Roof belongs to the group too, but it is a nightclub at Km 14.2. Treat it as a separate booking and late-night decision. Having dinner at another restaurant in the group does not establish club admission, a table or a drinks package.

Our Cancun nightlife guide helps you compare that plan with the other clubs and bars. Choose the dinner and the late-night venue separately, then work out the journey between them.

Which restaurant suits your occasion?

For a special dinner together

Start with Harry’s for steak, Fred’s for seafood or Nicoletta for Italian food. Then compare the seating, view and entertainment. A lagoon-side table can suit an early-evening meal, while a lively dining room may be better for a celebration than a long conversation.

For a birthday or group celebration

Porfirio’s and Ilios are useful starting points when your group wants food and entertainment together. Señor Frog’s takes the evening further towards a party bar. Decide which sort of participation everyone will enjoy before making the reservation.

For a family meal

Nicoletta, Porfirio’s, La Vicenta and Bodega Argentina advertise children’s facilities, while Harry’s advertises a children’s menu. Compare those details with what your children actually need. A kids’ menu, a play area and supervised activities are different facilities, and later entertainment may change the atmosphere.

For younger children, an earlier meal can be easier to fit around their routine. Our Cancun with kids guide has more ideas for planning the rest of the day.

Reservations, budget and getting there

Book the named Cancun branch, with the right date, group size and seating preference. This matters particularly for brands that also operate in Playa del Carmen or Tulum. A familiar restaurant name on a booking screen is only useful once the address is right.

For a celebration, check group-menu arrangements, deposits and any minimum spend before committing. For ordinary dining, compare the current menu in pesos and allow for drinks, sides and transport. Expensive beef cuts, shellfish and bottles of wine can change the total far more than the choice between two neighbouring restaurants.

If you want a sunset table, reserve around sunset on your actual travel date and check which seating area faces the water. Lagoon-side and marina views are different from a Caribbean beachfront location.

Dress for the restaurant and the evening you are booking. Check the branch’s current dress requirements when reserving, especially if you plan to continue to a club afterwards. Dinner and nightclub entry can have different rules.

Give your driver the restaurant name and exact branch, rather than only the group name. Ilios and Nicoletta are at Km 13.5; Harry’s and Porfirio’s are at Km 14.2; Fred’s is at Km 14.5. Puerto Cancun and Plaza Azuna require different destinations. Our getting around Cancun guide explains the transport choices.

Common questions

Are Rosa Negra and Taboo part of Grupo Anderson’s?

No. Grupo RosaNegra is a separate restaurant group. If you are comparing those evenings too, our Rosa Negra Cancun guide explains its particular food and atmosphere.

Are all Grupo Anderson’s restaurants in the Hotel Zone?

No. Several of the lagoon-side restaurants are close together around Km 13.5 to 14.5, but Bodega Argentina is at Marina Puerto Cancun and La Vicenta is at Plaza Azuna. Señor Frog’s is nearer the Punta Cancun party area.

Which should I choose first?

Choose the cuisine first, then the atmosphere. Harry’s and Fred’s give you a clear steak-versus-seafood comparison. Porfirio’s and Ilios suit different kinds of food with a celebration around the meal. Nicoletta offers Italian dining, while La Vicenta and Bodega Argentina give you reasons to look beyond the main lagoon-side cluster.
