If you prefer the luxury and convenience of a Tulum tour where you choose the itinerary and the tour group is restricted to just those in your own group then a private tulum tour is the way to go. A private tour will save you around 2.5 hrs over a public Tulum tour, which you can use to either sleep in a little or spend more time at the venues. Just like the public Tulum tour this tour is a combo tour and you'll get to enjoy the all inclusive facilities of Xel Ha or Xcaret on the same day.

Dependant on the size of your group a private tour can work out around, or not much more than, the same price as the public tour.

Because it's your private tour you make the itinerary, and choose what time you leave in the morning and arrive back later. However, a suggested itinerary would be to leave around 8am from your hotel and visit Tulum first, then onto Xel Ha when you're finished. Xel Ha closes at 6pm (around 5pm in winter) and the drive back to Cancun is around an hour and a half.
